I can’t say I’m especially enthused by the prospect of going fishing while being actively shot at, but then again, I’m not especially enthused by fishing in real life. Of course, if fish in real life gave you the same abilities as the Crimson Zero Fish in Fortnite, maybe I’d be more into the idea. Well, if you’re braver than me, here’s where and how to catch the Crimson Zero Fish in Fortnite.
Where to Catch the Crimson Zero Fish in Fortnite
You can catch the Crimson Zero Fish in Mountainous Areas of the Fortnite map, in small bodies of water like lakes or ponds. The fish can range from 65 cm to 115 cm.
There are a few different varieties of Zero Fish swimming around the waters of Fortnite, such as Crystal Zeroes, Skull Zeroes, and Leafy Zeroes, but we’re specifically talking about the Crimson Zero today. There’s no particular differentiation between the different species in terms of what they do for you, but I do enjoy the Crimson’s pleasant shade of red.
There’s no designated spot to obtain Crimson Zeroes, but a good place to hunt for them is in mountainous regions with smaller bodies of water like lakes and pounds. Technically, you can fish in any body of water with a regular or Pro Fishing Rod, but just using a regular fishing rod is more likely to land you common sea dwellers than rare stuff.
If you want rare stuff, find a bubbling Fishing Spot in the water, and either use your fishing rod there or throw in some explosives. Either way, your odds of obtaining rare fish are much higher in proper fishing spots. If you’re lucky enough to fish up a Crimson Zero, pick it up to add it to your inventory.
What does the Crimson Zero Fish do in Fortnite?
So, what do the Zero Fish do for you, gameplay-wise? Consuming a Zero Fish will restore a measly 15 health, but that ain’t what you’re here for. In addition to that little health nip, a Zero Fish will grant you the abilities of a Zero Point Crystal for 20 seconds.
When you’ve got Zero Point power, you can perform quick teleporting dashes in any direction, and even while swimming! This makes these little guys quite helpful if you’re close to the Storm or in someone else’s crosshairs, and need to make tracks in a hurry. Of course, if you’re already in someone’s crosshairs, maybe you’re not in the best spot for fishing.
