Open world games are by design, heavily influenced by the world around you. That is to say, the story, combat, and exploration all hinge on the world and how you can interact with it. While this may seem like a no brainer, the current ‘meta’ from some developers involve creating an open world game to hop on the trend. Not because the world is deserving of being explored. Because of this, many open world games are barren and are only traversed out of necessity. This is where fast travel comes into play. A staple in almost every new open world game, which allows you to instantly get from one area of the map to another. This can be a massive time saver, especially in open world games considering the sizes of some open worlds.
If the player is spending all their time avoiding the open world and the content around it, it might be a sign that the game has some exploration issues. In Hogwarts Legacy, while there may be a decent amount of fast travel locations for the players to use. Many are finding these fast travels as a detriment instead of a ease of use tool. Best Reasons to Not Use Fast Travel in Hogwarts Legacy
There might not be a specific, black and white benefit to not using fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy. Once you hop into the game however, you will notice some of the reasons almost immediately. A reason many players are citing for not using it has to do with the overall expansiveness of the maps and areas. And yes you read that correctly, MAPS. While maps of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade overlap the larger world map, they are given their own individual maps, due to the size and amount of things in each of these areas.

If you’re not that into doing some sightseeing and want to have some combat or collectable gathering in your open world, Hogwarts Legacy has just the thing. Whether you want to attempt one of the many Merlin Trials, dungeons, or go looking for your newest fantastic beast, the open world is a wizard/witches playground. There will be certain areas that can only be accessed through further learning of spells, so you might want to keep that in mind before going straight into the Forbidden Forest. The possibilities are pretty expansive, something which gamers aren’t too familiar with nowadays. Where some more recent open world games feel like they are forcing you to traverse the open world and almost encourage you to try and find fast travel locations, Hogwarts Legacy feels like the exact opposite.
