Ready or Not is an early-access First-person Shooting game which places you in tough and intense real-life situations as a member of a SWAT team. This game can either be played online or as a single-player with a better crafted AI teammates and opposition than most FPS games. However, with its early access comes bugs that are typical to these kinds of games. For those looking to play another game, similar to that of Ready or Not, we have a few recommendations for you. Both as multiplayer games and single-player linear games. These are our 6 best games like Ready or Not.
Single-player Games like Ready or Not
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022)
Campaign Missions: Borderline, Alone & Countdown
The latest Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 2 acts as a reimagining of the original 2009 game. It includes many more missions which place its players inside a more realistic settings. From dealing with hostiles in a police setting, getting civilians to place their guns down before anyone is harmed. To moving through a town on your own, strategically distracting and taking down enemies when the time is right to struck. Finally with the saving of hostiles inside a skyscraper as you repel down the side of the building. Whilst the last setting seems more like a gaming experience than that of what would be a realistic situation that the forces would find themselves in.
These missions standout as ones to remember for future Call of Duty installments. The realism seen inside these situations, both placed as a hero trying to save innocent hostages and as someone simply trying to survive the night after being backstabbed by their own comrades. These are some of the most realistic missions we have seen in Call of Duty history and for this reason, we are placing this campaign on our list.
Of course, we need to talk about the Multiplayer mode of Search and Destroy. A beloved mode which takes two teams and has one place down bombs and defend the site, and the other try to defuse it. This mode should not be played with guns blazing unlike many other Call of Duty modes. S&D is a slow-paced mode which requires teamwork, good comms and strategic positioning. It is the best mode that can compare to Ready or Not.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)
Campaign Missions: The Only Easy Day… Was Yesterday & Spec Ops
Call of Duty has a history of placing its playerbase inside hostage situations. One of the best campaigns with this is the original Modern Warfare 2. The entirety of this campaign is brilliant, making it one of the entries within the golden era of the franchise. Whilst these hostage missions are not done similarly to Ready or Not, its setting is practically the same. Enter the site and successfully take down the opposition without killing any of the hostages.
Whilst it has not got many similarities compared to other entries on this list, MW2 is a great campaign, characters has dimension and it has one of the best twists of all time. For those looking to play a campaign with various settings, outside of hostage saving and bomb defusal. Including that of stealth, night-time and fast-paced action missions, MW2 has it all.
Let us not forget a great part of MW2 was its Spec Ops Co-ops mode. To be able to play short missions with a friend, through taking maps from its campaign and placing you into small spaces. Often these were missions including enemy wave gameplay, similar to its Zombie mode. However, some missions were pure stealth, with its focus being the comms between yourself and your comrade. These Co-op missions were fantastic and challenging, adding another depth of realism into play. You could not succeed unless you worked as a team. With each tier levelling up the difficulty, Spec Ops is a mode that we truly miss.

Rainbow Six Vegas
Vegas Campaign Missions: Calypso Casino, Vertigo Spire & Nevada Dam
Vegas 2 Campaign Missions: Píc des Pyreneés, Old Vegas, Recreation Center & Convention
Rainbow Six Vegas are deemed some of the best FPS Campaigns to be made as part of the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. With Vegas 2 releasing in 2008, these two installments offer endless hostage and bomb defusal missions for its players. For those itching to be a part of an intense experience, both Rainbow Six Vegas Campaigns throw you into hero mode. With almost every mission tasking you to save hostages and disarm bombs, its similarities with Ready or Not can easily be seen. You have the option to play the game however you would like but strategy works best in beating these Campaign missions. These games are best for players looking for the intensity of Ready or Not in a single-player game.

Multiplayer Games like Ready or Not
Zero Hour
Zero Hour is a Multiplayer First-person Shooting experience which you can play solo, with friends or to join an Online quick match. This game is one of the best alternatives to Ready or Not as it places you inside real-life situations, working as a solo or in a unit. Take down terrorists using strategy and stealth, save hostiles and defuse escalating situations. Just like Ready or Not, Zero Hour is too an early-access game. But with a cheaper price point, players should definitely try this installment out if they are a fan of the saving hostages and defusing bombs type situations.
For those playing PvP, the game mode acts similarly to Hostage game mode in Rainbow Six Siege. With one team holding hostages and the other trying to extract them from the building. Its co-op mode has two difficulties, changing the reaction time of the AI. Another similarity between the two games is that you are also tasked with collecting evidence from the scene. With a hostage that you have to protect by moving around the building to safe spots as you try to extract them from the building. At any moment your hostage could run away so keep your wits about you. Zero Hour is the best option for those looking to buy a game similar to Ready or Not.
Ground Branch
This is another game in early-access and has many similarities to Ready or Not. For its heavy focus on teamwork and communication. Whilst you are not playing under stressful and intense circumstances such as defusing bombs or saving hostages. Ground Branch is not a game where you can run ahead of your team and look for kills. You must play slow and tactically in the hope to win the game. With your squad of 8 against AI, the goal is to complete missions by working as a team. There is not a more realistic close-combat game than this as a simulation for being part of an army unit.
For those playing solo, you can play with a team of AI where you can command them to move in on enemies or cover your movement. This is one of its similarities towards Ready or Not. Ground Branch, just like our other Multiplayer entries and Ready or Not itself, focusses on completing the mission through strategy and stealth. Every kill is important and no comrade should go down in the fight. Whilst the AI could use a lot of polish, this game is still in early-access. Where Ground Branch shines is within its realistic gameplay and gun mechanics. You should look past the level design just this once and try out Grand Branch for yourself.
Rainbow Six Siege
Whilst the narrative of Rainbow Six Siege is not particularly similar to Ready or Not, its comparison lies within the gameplay. With the ability to breach doors, use cameras to scoop out the buildings and rappel down from rooftops, Rainbow Six Siege brings a Multiplayer experience unlike anything we have previously experienced. With the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield bringing forth ideas such as Search and Destroy. Nothing is quite like the online experience of the 5v5 tactical and strategic plays of Rainbow Six Siege.
Rainbow Six Siege includes a quick match Game Mode titled Hostage. The goal is to defend the hostage from the attackers. The attackers must extract the hostage from the building, succeeding by either killing the defenders or moving the hostage out of the building. In regard to AAA First-person Shooting games with Online Multiplayer, this is the closest mode to come close to Ready or Not.
We hope you enjoyed our list of the best games for you to play that are similar to Ready or Not. With both single-player and multiplayer options. Ready or Not is a very unique experience, whether you are playing solo, with friends or strangers. Whilst the games listed above, nothing can directly be compared to Ready or Not. We hope that this game becomes a full entry for its fanbase. Feel free to follow us on Gamer Journalist at Facebook. Let us know what your list would look like.
