What is it with fantasy games in using eggs to upgrade weapons? First Monster Hunter Rise, now NieR Replicant; I’m no blacksmith, but I feel like if you tried to crack an egg open into a forge, it’d just disintegrate. Well, maybe it’s symbolic, like you gotta sacrifice a potential life to enhance a weapon magically. Sure, let’s go with that. Anyway, here’s where to get Giant Eggs in NieR Replicant.
Giant Eggs are one of NieR Replicant’s numerous types of crafting materials, right up there with Chicken Eggs and Eagle Eggs. Unlike those dollar store twelve-pack eggs, though, Giant Eggs have the noble distinction of being a required component in upgrading the Phoenix Dagger, the best one-handed weapon in the game, and a pretty fantastic weapon in general. If you want that Phoenix Dagger to be the best it can be, you’re gonna need to supply at least 2 Giant Eggs, alongside 3 Eagle Eggs.
Where to Get Giant Eggs in Nier Replicant
The good news about Giant Eggs is that they spawn very close to home. In fact, they spawn in your home, readily available in the Village. The bad news is that there’s no surefire way to obtain them. See, Giant Eggs spawn from one of the 18 sparkly gathering points scattered around the Village, usually located under trees, next to walls, on cliffsides, or in other mildly obtuse places. If you examine one of these spots, you’ll get a random item, and if you’re lucky, said item will be a Giant Egg.
As I said before, though, there’s no way to guarantee the item will be a Giant Egg. All you can really do is search every possible gathering spot in the Village and cross your fingers that a couple will yield the Giant Eggs you need. If they all come up empty, you can just leave and re-enter the Village to make the spots respawn. It’s not a difficult endeavor, just a very potentially lengthy one. If you’re lucky, it won’t take you more than two or three sweeps of the village to get what you need. If you’re unlucky, well, put on a podcast, ‘cause this might take a while.
