Where to Find Toxic Kumori in Monster Hunter Rise

Despite being commonly grouped up with them, spiders aren’t insects. They’re arachnids. Arachnids have eight legs instead of an insect’s six, and don’t possess common insect traits like antennae or wings. I’m only clarifying this because Monster Hunter Rise defines the Toxic Kumori as an insect, despite the fact that it is obviously an arachnid, and it bothers me. Anyway, here’s where to find Toxic Kumori in Monster Hunter Rise.

The Toxic Kumori, a highly poisonous species of wild insect (except it’s an arachnid) is one of the special weapon and armor crafting materials in Monster Hunter Rise that can’t be obtained out in the wild. You can search far and wide across both Low and High Rank maps, but you ain’t gonna find any of them. The only way to obtain these venomous critters is by trading for them from Rondine over at the Argosy.

When you deploy hunters from the Argosy to search for certain items and materials, there’s a chance they’ll also uncover special bonus items during their search. If you send out feelers to look for the following herbs and plants, there’s a chance they’ll pick up bonus Toxic Kumoris.

  • Herb
  • Antidote Herb
  • Fire Herb
  • Flowfern
  • Sleep Herb
  • Snow Herb
  • Sunscorned Grass
  • Ivy

To ensure this process is as expedient as possible, you’ll want to put in some behind-the-scenes work. First, you’ll want to complete all of the Argosy sidequests so it has all three of its hunter submarines ready to deploy. Secondly, you’ll want three decently-levelled buddies on hand to pilot those submarines and run your searches. You want them to be able to work hard and quickly so they can find as much stuff as possible as quickly as possible. Finally, if your buddies are at least level 15, you can use Buddy Bargaining to increase the speed at which they finish their tasks in exchange for points. If you throw them some Lagniapples, those bargained speeds will last much longer, too.

Once your buddies have been deployed, go waste some time on hunts and what have you, and come back later. Hopefully, they’ll have a box full of poisonous spiders waiting for you when you get back.
