Farming Vex kills in Destiny 2 is a surprisingly regular requirement. There are countless quests and challenges calling upon players to massacre everyone’s favorite sentient machines, so having an efficient Vex farm at hand is critical for all Destiny 2 players.
I’m going to go over two of the best Vex kill farms in Destiny 2. I’ll go over my favorite farm for regular Vex kills, and my favorite farm for powerful Vex kills. With these two farms at your disposal, you should be able to make short work of any Vex-kill-related task you find yourself facing.
Best Vex Kills Farm in Destiny 2
If you’re looking for a powerful Vex farm in Destiny 2 – jump down to the next section in this guide. If you just need general Vex kills, though, be it for Divinity or something else – then you’ll want to head to the Vex cave in the Lunar Battleground.
The Lunar Battleground is an awkward part of the Moon to find. It’s where the Shadowkeep campaign starts, and it doesn’t actually feature on the Destinations map.
Load into Sorrow’s Harbor and hug the right side of the area until you reach a Scarlet Keep bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the passage until you reach the Lunar Battlegrounds. Once you leave out the other side of this Scarlet structure, take an immediate left and hug the cliff until you reach a cave. This is the same cave that you start the Divinity quest, and the Garden of Salvation raid, in.
As soon as you enter – you’ll notice a giant Vex portal. That’s where all the enemies are going to spawn. So, head over there and kill all the Harpies on your way. Position yourself next to the portal and just go nuts on each wave of Vex that spawns.
Eventually, the boss will spawn with a handful of Harpies. Waste the boss and leave the cave. Unfortunately, you need to head all the way back to the Sorrow’s Harbor load zone through the passage you took to get to the Lunar Battleground. This doesn’t take too long, but it is inconvenient. Head back the way you came then turn back around once you see that Sorrow’s Harbor text appear on your screen.
Depending on how efficient you are with your farm, you can get through a complete run of the cave in a few minutes. Enemies will despawn occasionally towards the end of waves, but on average, I was hitting around 70 kills per complete run.
Where to Farm Powerful Vex in Destiny 2
The Orrery Lost Sector in Artifact’s Edge on Nessus is easily the best powerful Vex farm in all of Destiny 2. In case you need a reminder – powerful Vex are any Vex enemies with a yellow health bar. There are a handful of them in the Vex cave, sure, but not nearly as many as in the Orrery, and the cave can’t be run nearly as fast as this Lost Sector can.
There are five yellow-bar powerful Vex enemies in the Orrery Lost Sector. There’s the boss, then four yellow-bar Nightmare Harpies. When you first arrive in the Lost Sector, the boss will be on a platform with two of those Harpies. Get the boss’ health down to one-third and two more Harpies will spawn. Kill them, then the boss for five powerful Vex altogether.
After that, all you have to do is leave the Lost Sector to load Artifact’s Edge back in. Once you hit that load zone, you can head right back into the Orrery to do it all again.
With the right loadout, you can totally ignore the ADs in this Lost Sector and focus strictly on the powerful Vex. I used a shotgun and Stasis for this. My strategy was to run past all the ADs, throw a Duskfield Grenade at the two Harpies and the boss, then smash both Harpies with my shotgun before unloading on the boss. Once the other two Harpies spawned in, I focused them with the shotty, finished off the boss, and left the Lost Sector without even getting the chest.
From the moment you load the Orrery to the moment you load Artifact’s Edge – I was able to get consistent one-minute runs. That’s five powerful Vex per minute – which is pretty impressive even by Destiny 2’s farming standards.
So, if you need regular Vex kills, farm the Vex Cave in the Lunar Battleground. If you need powerful Vex kills, though, the Orrery in Artifact’s Edge on Nessus is what you’re looking for.
