If you have been paying close attention in the past few months, you may have noticed the explosion of the ‘find the’ genre on Roblox. In a nutshell, these games are all scavenger hunts, where the player is dropped into a map and tasked with finding the hidden objects in the game. The objects are usually united by a very tight theme, and it becomes the namesake of the game’s title. But why have these scavenger hunt games become so popular? And what are they, really? All this and more into this deep dive of the ‘find the’ games on Roblox.
Here’s Why Roblox Players Think Find the Games Are Appealing
Without much of a comment section, it is difficult to objectively pin down exactly what makes these ‘find the’ games so popular. But it soon dawned on me when I started playing them myself.
Scavenger hunts in real life are a great deal of fun, the enjoyment of cracking clues, to the excitement of finding an object, to the satisfaction of completing it. All of that head-scratching and gratifying fun is present in these games, and even more. Scavenger hunts are fun, sure, but they would be even better with teleporters, wild worlds, crazy items, physics-defying puzzles, difficult obstacle courses, and a list of hundreds of cleverly-hidden objects. And Roblox allows just that.
These ‘find the’ games allow for completionist and casual players to run rampant and partake in the joy of revelation. If you want to chill, then you can focus on the easier items the game has hidden. But if you want a challenge, then there will be plenty of difficult and headache-inducing items to try and find. And it’s not just the difficulty of the items that are appealing, but the methods of which they are revealed.
Items are hidden through a variety of ways, and sometimes a player will need to complete and get past numerous types of methods to find the object. Obbies, puzzles, timing, or merely finding them in the open are all possible ways of uncovering your target.
With such a diversity of challenge and methods, there is no wonder why these things are popular. They’re like a great remix of every Roblox genre combines, all into one concise package of fun.
The History Behind How Find the Games Became Popular
From what I have gathered through my time of playing these games, there is a traceable history of the journey that the genre has made in its quest for popularity. With many hallmarks, here is what you need to know:
The OG – Find the Domos
Now, this game is pretty old, created all the way back in 2011. Searching on Roblox for old or classic games is pretty much impossible, but thankfully this game has been highlighted as the inspiration for a ‘Find the Markers’, a game we will discuss later.
There used to be quite the handful of old ‘find the’ games, but scarcely any were more successful than Find the Domos, with over 6 million visits. Back then, this genre wasn’t too revered, although it certainly wasn’t rare. It was with recent entries, however, that propelled the genre to its viral status.
Propelling to stardom
The game really hit its viral status in 2022, but there are some games that can be pointed out – all made in 2021 – that can be attributed to accelerating the genre’s status to what it is today.
Find the Chomiks (7/1/2021). Today, this game features over 870 chomiks to find. This game itself wasn’t groundbreaking, but it has received a smashing 24.3M+ visits. I wanted to point this game out as it was created before the genre became super popular, and was made through passion and hard work with a beloved community.
Find the Chomiks was certainly partly responsible for the genre’s upwards trend. It also serves as more of a faithful recreation of the traditional ways of making these games, something our next game disregards.
Find the Markers (11/4/2021). Created four months later, Find the Markers would be what many players now revere as one of the defining games for the genre’s virality. With 534.8M+ visits and over 1 million favourites, this game has extended the genre to millions of players and set the foundation for expectations. Find the Markers turned what was merely a scavenger hunt game and added all of the elements that made it unique. Obbies, worlds, teleportation, and other cool and unique features were all thrown into the mix.
The game still receives carefully constructed updates to this day, and recently were celebrating their 1 year anniversary. Find the Markers, despite not having the largest catalogue of items to find, make up for it through the humour and ingenuity of the methods needed to find the markers. If you must experience any, experience this one. This game also deviated from the trend of having the items as badges, and made them actual 3D models for players to collect.
The Aftermath
Now, in 2022, there are many, many great ‘find the’ games for players to try out, all inspired by Find the Markers and other games of its time. Through the revamping of an old idea, markers epic memers, the developers, have redefined the genre and pushed it on everyone’s discovery pages.
Best Find the Games to Try Now
Since Find the Markers, in the year of 2022, the game’s viral status has meant that many uninspired and vulturous developers are mass producing ‘find the’ games with popular trends to try and rope in on popular search terms. These games are often constant copy-and-pastes of their previous work, just with models and titles that are popular of that time. These days, it is difficult to discern the good games from the parasitic.
This list has been personally curated by me to deliver different experiences. There are many good ‘find the’ games out there, but through my experience there are hallmarks of original works, and are very well-developed and still updated.
Find the Markers
You must have been expecting this entry, right? This highly influential game simply must be played at least once. The genius that pours from Find the Markers is highly inspiring, and also a bucket full of fun. I won’t rehash everything I’ve already said about this game, aside from the fact that you simply must play it.
Find the Chomiks
For a more classic experience, Find the Chomiks has you covered. Using badges instead of models, and with literal hundreds of Chomiks in a spiralling world, you’ll be occupied for a while. Sure, compared to the others this game may not seem the best, but it is definitely worth checking out to experience the passion and commitment this game has received in droves.
Find the Floppa Morphs
Find the Floppa Morphs is quite simply hilarious. This game is only featured on this list of some of the best purely due to how they also added spins on the genre. Instead of one giant map, Find the Floppa Morphs have divided their hundreds of floppas over several maps for you to choose from, each with their seperate lists of floppa morphs and themes. Additionally, you can morph into your floppas once you have found them, which is a fun little extra. Compared to the others, however, this game is very easy with very little tricks and puzzles.

Sure, this game updates frequently to cash in on the popular search terms of the time, but some of the maps are really quite unique and the game itself has inspired other games (mostly parasitic) to adopt the same morphing feature.
I quite enjoy this game, but maybe I’m just a psychopath.
Find the Simpsons
Find the Simpsons is not exactly revolutionary, and there aren’t mind blowing puzzles or ground-breaking features, but from what I can tell it is made for genuine gameplay and not to cash in on this trend. Using badges, this game does a decent job at recreating the Simpsons world many know and love, whilst giving some puzzles to enjoy alongside some classic treasure hunting.
Just as a side note – not all other ‘find the’ games not on this list are parasitic excuses for games. There are handfuls of great ‘find the’ games out there that you can enjoy, it’s just that these have been the most enjoyable out of all of them. If you ever want even more, then simply search ‘find the’ in the Roblox search bar, there are so many more to explore!
