What Can You Do If Virginia Disappears in Sons of the Forest?

Virginia can easily be won over as a companion as long as the player doesn’t scare or attack her in any way, which means that all weapons and sudden movements are off-limits. Even after she’s been successfully obtained as a companion, however, if you accidentally attack her, she’ll run away and completely disappear.

If you’re fighting closely alongside her against a horde of manic mutants and cannibals, it’s all too easy to accidentally land a hit or two on the wrong target. This is usually the reason why Virginia disappears in Sons of the Forest, though she can also disappear due to bugs or glitches.

If your Virginia disappeared in Sons of the Forest and you’re not sure why, then don’t worry, there’s still hope! Whether her disappearance was due to a glitch, bug, or accidental attack, there are a few ways that you can go about getting Virginia back in Sons of the Forest. Before you go trying to start all over with a new game, try using these methods first:

Give it Some Time

One of the easiest, and sometimes best, things that you can do if Virginia disappears in Sons of the Forest is to simply give it some time. This method may seem unimaginative at first, but it’s actually the first thing you should try if her disappearance was caused by an accidental attack.

If you accidentally land a hit or two on Virginia, she’ll quickly run away and get as far away from you as possible. Running after her or trying to coax her back won’t help, but giving it time usually will. After a few in-game days of giving Virginia her space, she’ll usually come right back to your side.

This method can also work if her disappearance was due to a bug or glitch instead, but it yields more successful results if the disappearance was due to an accidental attack.

Reload an Earlier Save

If you’ve already tried the previous method and didn’t have much luck, then you can always try reloading an earlier save. Reloading saves can be frustrating, but Virginia is definitely worth the effort! If you save your game frequently in Sons of the Forest, then you shouldn’t have too much to worry about.

By reloading an earlier save of the game prior to Virginia’s disappearance, then you can easily gain Virginia back as a companion, regardless of the reason behind her disappearance. This method has a very high success rate, though you’ll need to sacrifice any progress you may have made without Virginia by your side.

Sacrificing progress for any reason can be immensely frustrating, but not having Virginia as a companion is even worse. Virginia is an extremely valuable ally in Sons of the Forest; having her suddenly disappear could easily lead to your in-game death or worse.

Reload the Game

If you’re 100% certain that Virginia’s disappearance was not due to an accidental attack, then she may have unfortunately disappeared due to a glitch or a bug. If you’re sure that your Virginia disappeared in Sons of the Forest due to an annoying bug or glitch, then you may want to try this method first.

By saving, logging out, and then reopening the game, you may find Virginia by your side as if nothing ever happened. Sons of the Forest is still a very new game, and occasionally, small errors like the disappearances of objects or NPCs can happen. Hopefully, bugs and glitches like these will get patched by the developers in the future, but for now, reloading your game seems to yield the best results.

If you’ve already tried waiting for Virginia to come back on her own, or are just hesitant to reload an earlier save just yet, then this is definitely the best method to utilize.

What to Do if Virginia Dies in Sons of the Forest

If Virginia disappeared from your game due to an attack, bug, or glitch, then getting her back shouldn’t be too difficult (though it may be tedious). If she disappeared due to her death, however, then getting her back will be impossible.

Just like Kelvin, Virginia can die in Sons of the Forest. Virginia is vulnerable to all of the same dangers that you are, including mutants and cannibals. In addition to this, it’s also possible for players to accidentally kill Virginia with various weapons. Friendly fire is definitely present in Sons of the Forest, and it cannot be turned off, so always make sure to be careful when battling around your companions.

If Virginia dies in Sons of the Forest, then there’s really nothing you can do to bring her back. There aren’t any necromancers in Sons of the Forest (though that would be cool), so you’re only hope of getting her back is reloading an earlier save. If you reload a save from when Virginia was still alive, then you’ll be able to effectively bring her back to life. By doing this, however, you’ll need to sacrifice any and all progress you made after that fateful save. As previously mentioned, however, Virginia is worth it!
