I don’t normally play survival horror games because, well, they scare me quite easily. However, if I were to play one, I would prefer to not play the game and adventure through the story by myself. I would enjoy having someone talking to me, only to keep my psyche from breaking. Well, enough with projecting my inner fears and insecurities, here is how to get Virginia as a companion in Sons of the Forest.
Where to Find Virginia
Are you ready to get a mutant woman with three legs and three arms as a companion? Well, let me introduce you to Virginia. She is one of the companions you will be able to unlock in the game. This new feature brings more content and far more improvements to Sons of the Forest’s predecessor, The Forest.
Virginia can appear at any point in the game (if fact some players have reported her appearing early the game and for others it didn’t happen to much later) and can be recruited.
A valuable, important piece of information is that Virginia hates the cold and loves being exposed to the sun. So, if you are decided on finding her, you may want to avoid the cold areas across the island and focus on places that are hotter. You actually don’t have to track Virginia down as she will find you, coming to where the player is.
How to Befriend Virginia
In order to recruit Virginia, you will definitely have to play nice! In order for her to become your companion, you will have to interact with her in a friendly manner. If you’re not on your best behavior, you will just scare her off and she will escape.
Approach Virginia without any weapons drawn to engage her, as otherwise, you might frighten her. You can put away your weapons by pressing G on the computer. She still may run off at this point, but she will be back. It may take a little bit for Virginia to cozy up to you, so just repeat similar actions each time that she appears.

How Virginia Behaves as a Companion
Unfortunately, you can’t issue Virginia commands as you would Kelvin. But Virginia becomes an essential companion. While she may be reluctant and even frightened to the combat happening around her, she will soon join in the action, as there is no other way to survive this violent setting. She will be able to sport a shotgun and a gun at the same time. You know, because she has 3 arms. She can also leave gifts for the player as well.
Oh man, no wonder she is the most sought-after companion in the game. Good luck with the mutant woman!
