As we have previously explored before, Fire Emblem Engage as one of the mainline entries into the long-running RPG series can be quite the surprising number game despite what its genre is. For every single character that will become available in your arsenal, each one has their own unit stats to consider – let alone when taking into account every other factor such as stat influences from classes.
But when getting to gripes with just the basics, taking each and every one of these basic stats is the best approach. Here’s one of the most confusing ones that we will break down for you.
Fire Emblem Engage – What does Build (Bld) do?
The Build stat (or “Bld” as written in the game) correlates directly into the characters’ ability to carry certain weapons. How they handle them exactly due to said Build stat relates to a variety of outcomes. These mostly consist of if the character will be able to land a follow-up attack, strike first and defend against them. It is the stat that quite simply represents the units’ attack speed.
What Does Luck Do in Fire Emblem Engage? – Answered
The build stat effectively tells the player is a unit is suitable to carry heavy weaponry. Consider the Barbarian class which requires a high Build stat for its units to utilise the Axe as their primary weapon. For a unit unsuitable with such weaponry match-up, their speed stat is heavily penalized. Since having a good build directly links to how this single stat prevents heavy weapons from slowing down the attack speed, this directly correlates to the chances of said unit being able to hit more often perform more follow up attacks regardless of how heavy the weapon is.
So, what you want to look out for is if the unit’s build stat figure is greater than the weapon’s weight value. No penalty arises from this.
It is also worth noting that this stat is one that increases much more slowly than the vast majority. You will see a greater jump happen when improving a unit’s class instead. Refining and engraving weapons will also aid you in case this becomes a particularly tough spot for you when improving units. Doing these at the Armory will decrease the weapon’s weight, making it easier to be wielded by units who were previously unable to do so before.
