Tron Identity: Release Date, Characters, and Everything We Know

A new Tron game is finally coming after over a decade

Tron is one of Disney’s oldest franchises as it has been around for over 30 years. Despite this, it has never been a priority for the company as it’s taken over a decade for a third film or new video game to be made until now. The Disney and Marvel Games Showcase kicked off this past Friday with the unexpected announcement of a brand new Tron video game titled Tron Identity. This marks the first time since 2010 that a Tron game was being worked on. In this guide, you’ll learn everything we know about the game so far.

Plot

Tron Identity follows the journey of a detective program named Query as he investigates a break-in inside the Grid, a digital world. Query must answer the question of “Who stole what?” as he questions suspects and investigates what really happened. The game doesn’t appear to have any connection to the previous Tron films or games and will feature new characters. So far, Query is the only character we know of.

Gameplay

Although it wasn’t shown during the showcase, Tron Identity will be a visual novel. Visual novels are very dialogue-driven games that feature characters as either static images or animated 3-D models. As Query, you’ll be able to make choices throughout the entire game that will affect the world around you. In Tron Identity, Characters can become your friends or enemies based on how you interact with them. As a result, there are several endings for the player to discover. There will also be puzzles requiring you to recover the lost memories of certain characters by defragging Identity Discs.

Release Date

As of right now, Tron Identity is scheduled to release sometime in 2023 only on Steam for PC and Mac. There has been no information about a future console release.
