Across all of Call of Duty: Warzone’s many maps and updated incarnations of them there have always been a handful of locations that stand out above the rest. Not only do they serve their purpose in great gameplay moments during their time but as staples for what future POIs should be within the Warzone landscape. We’ve named our top 5 Warzone locations ever, from the very first, Verdansk, all the way to Fortune’s Keep.
Top 5 Warzone Locations Ever Ranked
As someone who’s played a lot of Warzone since its inception, I can say that there are some maps that do much better than others, incorporating truly amazing environments that make gameplay feel as exciting as it possibly can. Though not every map has a location that makes an appearance here, there a definitely some good ones, but these the best.
5. Grid Radar Array – Verdansk ’84
An addition that came during the clock rewinding of Verdansk, its identical twin Verdansk ’84’s Grid Radar Array was a real treat for players. Those who like to use sniper rifles were given a location that served as a fantastic vantage point for the Eastern side of the map. Not only was it in their favor for having an upper view of the playing field, but its structure also made it difficult for enemy players below to pin-point snipers or take them out. This is a POI that is sorely missed.
4. Winery – Fortune’s Keep
A bombastic new map, Fortune’s Keep offers a bunch of really cool locations, but the best has to be the Winery. It’s a tightly quartered location that boasts some fantastic combat situations due in part to the various corridors and tunnel systems it holds. A really fun place to drop in hopes of great shootouts, this is always a go-to for high kills and decent loot. It’s also pretty well placed with two sniper vantage points.
3. Airport – Verdansk
Quite possibly the most versatile location on this list, the Airport serves as a crucial point of contention due to its high loot ratio as well as its many vantage points. Controlling this POI can really put the endgame in your favor if the circle is ending near it. Whether you’re on its roof or at its radio tower, you have a strong hold on what’s going on down on the ground.
2. Storage Town – Verdansk/Caldera Island
Storage town has seen three separate incarnations over the length of Warzone’s lifespan but each of them is just as good as the last. They very seldom vary much from one to the other which isn’t bad at all. Storage Town is the perfect place for enemy encounters and loot. Though Winery is good for close encounters as well, nothing beats the way that Storage Town is put together. It’s perfect for sliding behind cover, leaping across rooftops, or even calling in a care package as you can and disappearing without a trace after picking your loadout.
1. Nakatomi Plaza – Verdansk ’84
I’m not sure if there will ever be another location in Warzone that tops the excitement that I feel about the Nakatomi Plaza tower that was added to Verdansk ’84. The building itself had various floors to loot and its tight spacing was great for facing enemies just like the scenes from the film it’s been ripped right out of, Die Hard. The rooftop sat far above any other structure on the map, a perfect place to land and stay for the duration of a match. If your team could hold the building down, especially the roof, you were set.
The only thing that made it even better was just how much of a recreation it actually was. There hasn’t been another POI that matches the attention to detail as much as Nakatomi Plaza. Just about every room shown in the 1988 film makes an appearance in-game and it’s glorious.
Those are our picks for the top 5 Warzone locations ever. Hopefully, Activision can continue to deliver just as good if not better locations in Warzone 2.0 and beyond. Fortune’s Keep shows a glimmer of hope as October 28 quickly approaches.
