As one of the oldest facets of gaming at large, RPGs have a hefty culture inside jokes and references that can pop up in the strangest places. If you’re not in on the joke (or sometimes, even if you are), these references can seem borderline inscrutable, not to mention bereft of tangible benefit. The Blank Slate armor in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is one of these strange items at a glance, but there is a usage hidden beneath. So, what does the Blank Slate do in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands?
What Does the Blank Slate Do in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands?
The Blank Slate is a type of all-class armor that can occasionally drop from enemies, chests, and other world-based sources in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. When you check it out in your inventory, it may feature one or two lines of unusual flavor text such as “Requires at least 1500 clicks,” “Corrupted,” or “Krangled.” Don’t worry, you haven’t accidentally picked up a piece of debug equipment.
All of this is actually just a big inside joke referencing the Path of Exile series. Specifically, it’s referencing an armor item called the Tabula Rasa (which is Latin for “Blank Slate”) that would require a metric whoa-ton of clicks to properly build out and customize. “Krangled” is also a reference to a series of posts on the Path of Exile subreddit that coined the term to refer to items that have been deliberately corrupted to change their properties.
While it is technically a joke item, however, the Blank Slate can prove very beneficial, at least if you’re lucky. Whenever you pick up a Blank Slate, its properties will be randomized, so you could end up with some very helpful buffs like extra ability damage, larger Ward capacity, or experience boosts. The likelihood that you’ll get some cool effects, as well as get the Blank Slate at all, depends heavily on your Loot Luck stat, which is raised every time you find one of Tina’s Lucky Dice in the world.
As the Blank Slate is a world drop, there’s no guaranteed spot to find one, but if you’re looking to farm for it, try playing through the Chaos Chamber a few times. Who knows, you might get lucky! Or maybe you’ll get hilariously unlucky and get a Blank Slate with no buffs attached.
