Dying Light 2 will finally be released in February after years of delays. The game was first revealed in 2018 and originally slated to release in the Spring of 2020 before being delayed twice. Now the game has suffered yet another delay as the Nintendo Switch version has been delayed to later this year.
Yet Another Delay For Dying Light 2
Dying Light 2’s Nintendo Switch version will not be a physical release. Instead Switch users will be able to play the game by streaming it through cloud servers. This is presumably because the Switch is not a very possible console and can’t handle the game the same way a PS5 or Xbox Series X can. Development on this version must be taking longer than expected as Techland announced that it would be delayed.
In a press release, Techland urged fans to be patient with them as they continue to work on the game. They also revealed that the game would now come out within six months of its release. No reason was given for the delay but it most likely has to do with the fact that this is a Switch port. In the past, Switch ports have been announced and either canceled or just never released. Steep and Skater XL are good examples of this.
Dying Light received a Switch port last year and it received praise for running on the Switch with little to no issues. This is what makes the news surrounding the sequel’s delay surprising. Dying Light 2 will be released on February 4 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
