Rain World Gourmand Crafting Guide

In Rain World, players explore a hostile and terrifying environment in the form of a “slugcat”, searching for their character’s relatives. Released in 2017, Rain World has been released on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on Steam. Your most immediate goal in the game is to find enough food to survive, and fight off enemies before a storm arrives.

By intentional design, there is little in the way of a tutorial. Instead, players must figure out how to survive mostly on their own. This actually provides a fresh experience that most new games lack nowadays. In the Downpour DLC of Rain World, five new slugcats are added to the game as characters that can be chosen by the player. One of these is the Gourmand, who has an extensive crafting list, can regurgitate random items in exchange for food pips, and other unique abilities.

Crafting While Playing As The Gourmand Slugcat

The Gourmand is a powerful slugcat that is able to slide very far across the screen. Additionally, the Gourmand can roll for significantly longer periods of time than normal. Both of these buffs to the slugcat’s movement allow the Gourmand to get around much easier than other slugcats. As mentioned above, the Gourmand has a variety of special powers that other slugcats can’t use. One of the most complicated of these powers is crafting, which allows the Gourmand to create new items from materials.

For example, you are able to craft items when you have a need, if you have the resources. Creating something like a flashbang through crafting would help you escape danger if predators were closing in.
