According to Pokémon mythology, Regigigas is one of the oldest living Pokémon, having created the world as we know it by tugging the contents into place with colossal ropes. It also used its dexterous fingers to craft the original Golem Trio, Regirock, Regice, and Registeel, from clay, ice, and magma. Putting aside whether it’s blasphemous or whatever to command such a Pokémon, is Regigigas good in Pokémon GO?
Despite its prodigious size, Regigigas is extremely simple in the typing department. As a pure Normal type, its only weakness is Fighting type moves, and its only resistance is Ghost type moves. What it lacks in wacky affinities, it makes up for with a solid bedrock of stats. Regigigas has a base Attack of 287, a base Defense of 210, and a base Stamina of 221. Those are pretty good stats to start, and when it reaches its max CP of 4,346, they only get more impressive.
Is Regigigas Good in Pokémon GO?
Here are the moves Regigigas has in its kit:
Quick Moves
- Zen Headbutt (Psychic)
- Hidden Power (Normal)
Main Moves
- Thunder (Electric)
- Focus Blast (Fighting)
- Giga Impact (Normal)
Regigigas’ Main Moves are incredibly strong, especially against Pokémon weak against them, but because they suck up a lot of energy, they have a very long wind-up. As such, Regigigas should not be employed as a front-line combatant. It needs fast, well-rounded Pokémon to warm the crowd up before it comes out swinging at the very end of the fight.
Regigigas can absolutely hold its own in the Master League, and in fact, it’s one of the better choices, provided you know the right way to use it. However, its high CP disqualifies it from the Great League, and there are much stronger Pokémon for the Ultra League, so it’d be ill-advised to take Regigigas out of its wheelhouse in the Master League.
