According to the myths of the Sinnoh region, Palkia is part of the trio of Pokémon that shaped the very bounds of reality itself. Palkia in particular embodies space, with the ability to warp and bend space around it to blink across long distances and into other dimensions. It makes sense, then, that it’d show up for Five-star raids during the Space Ultra Unlock in Pokémon GO. Here’s how to beat Palkia raids in Pokémon GO.
Since yesterday, and until August 17th, Palkia is heading up all Five-star raids in Pokémon GO as part of the second Ultra Unlock activated during Pokémon GO Fest 2021. Palkia is a Water/Dragon-type Pokémon, which means its resistances break down like this:
- Resistant to: Steel
- Double-resistant to: Water, Fire
- Weak against: Fairy, Dragon
Doesn’t give you much to work with, huh? Its stats are nothing to sneeze at either, with 280 base attack, 215 defense, and 189 stamina. Meanwhile, these are the moves Palkia has in its kit:

How to Beat Palkia Raids in Pokémon GO
The problem with fighting Dragon type Pokémon is that Dragon types are themselves weak to Dragon moves, but to use Dragon moves, you need to employ a Dragon type yourself, which gives them the same vulnerabilities. To mitigate this, you’re gonna want the strongest Dragon types you can muster. I’m talking full-on legendaries like Rayquaza, Zekrom, Kyrum, and Palkia’s own Sinnoh counterpart, Dialga. If legendaries aren’t on the table, your next best choice is pure or near-pure Dragon types like Dragonite, Salamance, and Haxorus. In a pinch, a strong Fairy type like Gardevoir, Granbull, or Togekiss could also suffice.
Whatever Pokémon you’re using, just make sure to double up on moves that Palkia is weak against. If you’re using a Dragon type, double Dragon moves. If you’re using a Fairy type, double Fairy moves. You gotta pummel that thing with everything you’ve got, and if you’re lucky, you’ll knock it down and get a chance to catch it.
