Don’t you just adore how video games can help us to experience the world in ways we never could otherwise? Case-in-point, until a recent update, Call of Duty Warzone 2 players reported being able to walk through walls. But, as much as it hurts to report this — I am literally trembling as I write these words — breaking the laws of physics has been rendered impossible as of the update dated February 24.
Players Can No Longer Walk Through Walls in Warzone 2
In the update dated Feb. 24, 2023, Raven Software included a bugfix that “fixed collision issues with various elements across Ashika Island allowing Players to exploit/peek/shoot through them,” which is dev speak for ‘we noticed people were cosplaying Danny Phantom in Warzone 2.0 and put a stop to it.’
It would seem that in addition to players being able to take advantage of this exploit, the AI players were able to as well, meaning the overall difficulty of matches skyrocketed. In addition to this (arguably unnecessary) fix, another unpopular decision was made with this update: the ability for snipers to take down players with one shot. On Twitter, fans spared no expense in giving Raven a piece of their minds.
That said, there were some fixes that seemed genuinely beneficial to players of all stripes. Case-in-point, there was a repositioning of cover on Ashika Island that is most likely going to help players stay alive. In addition, “the number of Armor Plates found via ground loot” on Ashika Island was increased. To see all patch notes in this and subsequent updates, check the official Call of Duty website.
