How to Get the Azoth Staff in New World

As you begin leveling in New World and filling out your equipment slots, you may notice one missing tool: the Azoth Staff. It’s the last tool slot on your character tab, so you’re probably wondering how to get one and what the purpose of it is. It turns out this is one of the most valuable items in your arsenal. It’s a long journey to obtain one, though. In this guide, we’ll explain exactly how to get the Azoth Staff and what you can use it for in New World

How to Get the Azoth Staff in New World

To obtain the Azoth Staff in New World, complete the main storyline that begins at Fisherman’s Bend, near the Hermit’s Shrine west of Windsward. You can open up your Journal by pressing the J key and find the quest chain under the Main Story section of the quest categories. We recommend visiting The Hermit at Fisherman’s Bend at around level 12-15. You should have a quest in your log to visit him around this point.

The quest chain is long and tedious and will lead you all over Aeturnum. You will need to visit each of the four starting cities of Windsward, First Light, Monarch’s Bluffs, and Everfall. It will also lead you up to Brightwood at some point later during the chain. If you prioritize this quest chain, you’ll receive your Azoth Staff by around level 20 to 25. At that point, you can obtain an Amrine Tuning Orb and do your first dungeon: Amrine Excavation expedition.

What is the Azoth Staff used for?

The Azoth Staff has two primary uses:

  • Completing Corrupted Portals and Breaches
  • Accessing expeditions

Having a staff allows you to complete Breaches or Corrupted Portals. These vary in level and can require a couple of people to up to five people of a particular level. Completing these randomly occurring events is the only way to obtain the ingredients necessary to craft tuning orbs. The events also reward players with other useful gear and Azoth, one of the most useful “currencies” in Aeturnum.
