How to Make a Fire Resistance Potion in Minecraft

Being on fire is one of those things I thought would be a more consistent problem growing up, like getting stuck in quicksand or bitten by vampires. In real life, though, as long as you’re not an idiot, you probably won’t catch fire much. In Minecraft, on the other hand, I’d almost go as far as to call being on fire an everyday occurrence, and if you’re not near water at the time, well, you can guess what happens. If you have to be on fire, then at least make sure it doesn’t hurt. Here’s how to make a Fire Resistance Potion in Minecraft.

A Potion of Fire Resistance is a vital piece of equipment for exploring inhospitable sections of your Minecraft world, with fiery pits of the Nether being the most obvious example. When you have the Fire Resistance status effect, you’re completely immune to all forms of heat-based damage, whether that be actually being on fire or being struck with an attack from a Ghast or Blaze. You can even swim around in lava just like water! Just remember that even if it doesn’t hurt you, you’ll still be on fire, so try not to hug anyone.

How to Make a Fire Resistance Potion in Minecraft

To make a Fire Resistance Potion in Minecraft, you’ll require four materials:

  1. Blaze Powder x1: Obtained from crafting two Blaze Rods dropped by Blazes
  2. Nether Wart x1: Found growing in the Nether
  3. Magma Cream x1: Dropped by Magma Cubes
  4. Bottle of Water x1: Craft a bottle, fill it with water

Next, you’ll require a Brewing Stand, which you can craft with a Blaze Rod and three stone-tier blocks in this pattern:

Let’s get brewing! Interact with the Brewing Stand to open the menu and deposit the Blaze Powder into the box on the far left to activate it. Place the Bottle of Water into one of the three bottle boxes branching off of the top box, then place the Nether Wart in the top box. The bubble meter will light up, and the brewing process will begin.

Go waste a few minutes and come back; the Nether Wart should be gone and the Bottle of Water replaced with an Awkward Potion. Leave that potion in the potion box, and add the Magma Cream to the top box. Waste a few more minutes, and the Magma Cream will be consumed. This leaves you with a shiny new Potion of Fire Resistance. Chug it down and belly flop into a volcano. Just remember to re-up every 3 minutes if you don’t want to instantly combust.
