Despite having the ability to pre-load the game beforehand, players are still having Connection Time Out issues on Steam when attempting to launch Lost Ark. A small overall percentage of the player base was able to launch and play the game with no issues. However, many players are stuck waiting for the download and unpacking files. The problem is that Steam is having some issues at the moment, which is preventing players from actually unpacking the pre-downloaded files.
After downloading the full Lost Ark game, players will still need to download the encryption key from Steam and unpack all 70GB of game files. The official Lost Ark Twitter has made it clear that Steam is aware of the issue and is actively looking into it. You can follow the Lost Ark Twitter here if you’d like to follow along for updates.
Lost Ark Connection Time Out
Players experiencing a connection time out when attempting to update or download Lost Ark on Steam can try the following:
- Switch the download region
- Restart Steam
These are your only two options at the moment. You can switch your download region to another server location and attempt the download again. To do this, open the Steam settings and go to the Downloads tab. Under Download Region, you can switch the location to another nearby location. Steam auto-selects the nearest download server location by default, but you can manually override this by selecting a new one.
After switching your download region, Steam will automatically restart. At this point, you can attempt the download again. Now, you can keep retrying the download if you get another Connection Time Out, or you can try a new region and repeat these steps. The bottom line is that Steam is currently having issues and they are working on resolving them. Trying to circumvent the issues by swapping servers may have no effect, so the best advice is to stay patient and let the team at Steam iron them out.
