Anyone who’s a die-hard fan of action RPGs will agree that a game’s success depends on the endgame activities available. Many players would consider the leveling process a tutorial, whereas the process of grinding dungeons and gearing out your character is the real meat and potatoes of the genre. Lost Ark has some unique endgame activities that have made it one of the more popular titles in the genre since its launch. In this guide, we’ll show you how to do Chaos Dungeons in Lost Ark and explain what they are and how they work.
The endgame has lots of different activities to keep players busy. One of the first activities you’ll encounter is the Lost Ark Chaos Dungeons. Below, we’ll start by explaining what these are and how they work and then give a more in-depth guide on how to unlock and complete them.
What are Chaos Dungeons in Lost Ark?
Chaos Dungeons are the first endgame activity you will encounter after hitting level 50 in Lost Ark. As the name implies, these are chaotic, fast-paced dungeons that players can participate in to complete various daily activities and get gear and materials. You can enter these solo, or more commonly, in groups of up to four players via party or matchmaking.
The gameplay of Chaos Dungeons feels very arcade-like, taking only a few minutes for every full completion. The objective in Chaos Dungeons is to fill the purification meter to 100% before time runs out. To fill the progress bar, players will need to kill monsters on every level. Filling the progress bar to 20% and 50% spawns portals to open up the next floor. Your rewards are not dictated by your clear time, so there’s no need to rush through everything, but you may as well for efficiency reasons.
Players can encounter various buffs in Chaos Dungeons, such as Wind Spheres for faster speed and recovery. Killing elite monsters grants cooldown reduction of casted skills by 40%, including awakening skills. Eliminating the second-floor boss refreshes cooldowns entirely. Destroying Rift Cores also grants attack speed and cooldown reduction by 40%. Lastly, if you’re lucky, you can also encounter a Bonus Portal for unique monster-specific rewards.
How to Unlock Chaos Dungeons in Lost Ark
To unlock Chaos Dungeons in Lost Ark, you must first reach level 50 and have reached the Vern Castle region. After reaching Vern Castle, keep following the main story quests until you speak with Professor Ronatas, an NPC standing outside the Chaos Dungeon statue in the northern section of the Vern Castle area. When you speak with Professor Ronatas, you will see a message pop up saying Chaos Dungeons are unlocked.
How to Do Chaos Dungeons in Lost Ark
Chaos Dungeons open by interacting with the statue in Vern Castle, assuming players meet the requirements. In the Chaos Dungeons menu, players can choose between multiple difficulty levels. Each level has unique rewards and specific item level requirements players must meet for entry. Each entry into a Chaos Dungeon costs 50 Aura of Resonance, and you will get 100 Aura of Resonance per daily reset. Players can continue doing runs after depleting their Resonance for lesser rewards.
The levels are separated into regions that increase in difficulty and item level. First, you will have North Vern unlocked, and as you discover more continents and increase your item, you will have a wider selection of regions and levels available. Each region contains different levels, which require a minimum item level to queue up.
Chaos Dungeons are meant to be played every day in Lost Ark to obtain the daily rewards. However, if you miss a day, you will get a Rest Bonus, which is displayed on the top left of the Chaos Dungeon menu. The rest bonus caps out at 100 and will grant bonus loot for every run, allowing players to catch up. Think of it as a type of catchup mechanic to avoid punishment for not playing every day.
