Call of Duty Warzone Rebirth Island Coming in Season One

Is Rebirth Coming to Warzone 2.0?

Could Rebirth see a rebirth?

If there is one thing that many Call of Duty players loved, myself included, about the original Warzone was its Resurgence mode that took place on several maps during Warzone’s lifespan. But there is no doubt that the best, however, was the map it originally shipped with, Rebirth. Though there are two iterations of the beloved map, either was a great time to be sure if you needed a break from the larger Warzone modes, opting for something a bit more laid back, in my opinion.

But with the map recently being locked in a vault since Warzone’s transition to its Caldera-only focus, Rebirth and Resurgence are seemingly gone forever, as neither has been implemented into the newly released Warzone 2.0. So the question lingers, “is rebirth coming to Warzone 2.0?”. Let’s talk about it!

As it currently stands, Activision nor Infinity Ward have addressed anything about Warzone 2.0 that we haven’t already seen, so far. There haven’t been talks about a new map, or even a new game mode for that matter. It makes sense though as the big game mode that was shipped with Warzone 2.0, DMZ is currently in a beta phase. It would make sense for Activision to be having its dev teams focus on finishing that up before adding much more to the game yet.

So, while it would be cool to see Rebirth reworked to fit Modern Warfare 2’s aesthetics, it doesn’t appear to be in the cards. It also would seem that if Activision were to pull the trigger on bringing the Resurgence game mode into Warzone 2.0, they would choose a new location altogether to host it. There have been rumors about real-life locations that would work, capturing a similar tone to Rebirth while being its own thing, but this is all speculation at this point.

Is Resurgence Coming to Warzone 2.0?

The more important thing for the majority of players though isn’t if the map itself is coming, but rather if its game mode, Resurgence, is. There have been many rumors and even leaks to the fact that Resurgence is in fact going to be coming to Warzone 2.0, many stating that sometime in the middle of 2023 is when players would be able to drop in. But again, neither Activision nor Infinity Ward has backed these claims up.

Though, it makes more sense for this mode to come back than not, as it’s been a fan-favorite mode for so long. Another mode players would like to see is Plunder, though I think this mode has less of a chance of coming back any sooner than Resurgence since DMZ also heavily focuses on completing missions for rewards and exciting for even grander rewards. It isn’t exactly the same but definitely falls in line with a similar gameplay loop

Many may also believe that Activision and Infinity Ward would be looking into how they can evolve Resurgence to fit more in the same space as Warzone 2.0’s other modes, taking advantage of mechanics such as proximity chat, water, and the many other new mechanics that have changed this game up so much compared to its predecessor.

But, that’s all there really is to about whether or not Rebirth is coming to Warzone 2.0. Rebirth seems to be shelved, but Resurgence seems to be getting a resurgence in 2023. Fingers crossed!
