Is Call of Duty Warzone Having A Halloween Event This Year? Answered

Can you actually skip Halloween?

If you’re anything like me, then your Halloween season for the last couple of years has included some spooky good fun brought directly by Activision through Call of Duty: Warzone. Whether it’d be the iconic crossover skins of Ghostface from the Scream films, Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw films, Billy from the Saw franchise, and even Frank from Donnie Darko, or the fantastic implementation of zombies into the map or game modes, there was always something for everyone.

Heck, there’d even be scavenger hunts and neat rewards to unlock by taking part in the event. And while there’s usually some fun to be had this time of the year, it seems that Activision is skipping Halloween this year. Or are they? Let’s explain what’s really going on.

Though there’s usually a fantastic in-game event that players would be enjoying this time of the year, called The Haunting, it would appear blatantly so that Activision is skipping any kind of Halloween event this year for both Call of Duty: Warzone and the current officially released mainline title, Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Activision hasn’t made any announcement, and in recent years, players would have already been playing in the Halloween event for days by now. There isn’t even a return of that zombies rebirth mode we saw during the summer.

Many have specualted that this choice could be due in part by the fact that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases just days before the holiday on October 28th. Could Activision think that Modern Warfare 2’s release is so large that players enjoying both current games wouldn’t be able to enjoy some Halloween fun for a few days? Who’s to say.

Though, if you are looking to get your Call of Duty Halloween fix, Call of Duty: Mobile is currently running a seasonal event through the rest of the month, called The Haunted Voyage. It includes a return of zombies to the game, new weapons, and even a Halloween-themed version of the Hacienda map. At least there’s that to fall back on!

So, while there isn’t something to celebrate during the Halloween season in Call of Duty: Warzone nor Call of Duty: Vanguard, at least Call of Duty: Mobile is coming in clutch for fans of the spooky vibes. Be sure to check out some of our other great coverage of all things Call of Duty!
