If you are like me, you cannot help but be curious when you get a Treasure Map on your hands. The classic X marks to spot is too good to pass up and in Tears of the Kingdom, with so many possibilities to explore for Link’s appearance, all you need to do is spare a little bit of time to reap those rare rewards. With Chests being placed in precarious, strange spots that make you wonder, “just how did they get there in the first place?”, the Old Maps and their Treasure will be a journey in itself. This is Vincent’s guide on where to find and use an Old Map in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Where to Find Old Maps in Tears of the Kingdom
In Tears of the Kingdom, players can obtain Treasure Maps titled ‘Old Maps’, outlining a specific spot in which Link can head to and investigate to obtain Time Gear and Armor. Whilst the Old Maps themselves can be difficult to come across, through a bit of exploration however, you may find these in hard-to-reach Chests that are typically found dangling from a rope just out of Link’s reach. You can find Old Maps inside North Necluda Sky Archipelago. Here, you will find one of these Chests containing an Old Map for Treasure, located upon accessing the North Necluda Sky Crystal Shrine. The first Chest can be found on the curved structure that you will need to manipulate and turn so that Link can reach it.

You will want to find the other Old Map here inside North Necluda Sky Archipelago before you attempt to get the Treasure that is pinpointed by the Map itself. So, you want to use the transportation device to catapult over to the northern Island in Archipelago. At its centre, the next Chest can be found out of reach once more. This time, you need to build a platform so that you are below it. Utilize the Bow and Arrows Link has to his disposal to shoot the Chest to your level to receive the next Old Map.
The exact locations for these Chests are highlighted below.
How to Get Time Armor by Using the Old Map
Now that you have picked up the Old Maps which will appear under your Key Items Tab in your Inventory, you need to find where the Treasure is. The first Chest can be found in Hyrule Ridge’s Chasm, just east of Hyrule Field. You need to head to all the way into Lindor Canyon Mine to find this Treasure Chest. The second Chest you are looking for is located within the core of the Gerudo Highlands Chasm, highlighted on the Map below. We recommend bringing in items such as Brightbloom Seeds to help illuminate the way inside the dark depths of these Chasms if you are not used to exploring these areas.
