How To Use a Mounted Turret To Damage Vehicles in Fortnite

If you need to shoot up some vehicles for a challenge, you can do so pretty easily.

Turrets have been around in Fortnite for quite a while, though they’ve assumed a variety of different forms. The original turrets were homemade emplacements located in a few strategic points around the map, but with the advent of Season 3, you can also find turrets mounted to certain large vehicles. In either case, if you need to shoot up some vehicles for a challenge, you can do so pretty easily. Here’s how to use a mounted turret to damage vehicles in Fortnite.

Completing a challenge of this nature is simple: all you need to do is deal a certain amount of damage to a manned or unmanned vehicle using any kind of mounted turret. This means you could shoot at an empty vehicle from a turret emplacement, or at a moving one from the gunner seat of an Armored Battle Bus or Titan Tank. You can jump onto a mounted turret emplacement the same way you’d enter a vehicle, while getting to a gunner seat on an Armored Battle Bus or Titan Tank may require you to press the Switch Seat button a few times.

The only tricky part to this is that large vehicles don’t frequently spawn next to each other, so you may need to either drive one around until you find another or enlist a buddy into scouting one for you. Vehicles are also a valuable commodity even without taking this challenge into consideration, so you’ll want to drop in a spot where you can find one right from the start.

If you’re lucky, you may find a turret right next to a vehicle, in which case you just need to hop in and blast away. Bear in mind that if you’re doing this for a challenge, you’ll probably need to inflict at least 1,200 damage, which is more than one vehicle can take. If you don’t want to bother hunting down another vehicle to shoot, you can take a break between salvos and use a Repair Torch to restore the vehicle’s health. Once it’s patched up, you can get back to shooting it.

Remember, these challenges are cumulative, so you can also score some damage for it by getting into a firefight with another player driving a vehicle of their own. As long as you shoot bullets from some manner of a turret, and those bullets find their way into a vehicle, it counts. You can also follow these tips to get better at Fortnite.
