How to Unlock Secret Jobs in Octopath Traveler 2 – Guide

It's always the strangest jobs that prove most useful.

The first Octopath Traveler game had a gaggle of special, secret Jobs you could unlock for your characters by reaching a high level and defeating a secret boss. In Octopath Traveler 2, secret Jobs have made a comeback, though thankfully, not all of them require a big punch-up. Here’s how to unlock secret Jobs in Octopath Traveler 2.

How to Unlock Secret Jobs in Octopath Traveler 2 – Guide

Octopath Traveler 2 features four secret Jobs outside of the eight base classes each of your characters start with. Unlike in the first game, there are no level requirements for obtaining any of these jobs, and some of them don’t even require you to beat up anybody.

Here are the four secret Jobs in Octopath Traveler 2 and a general idea of what they bring to the table:

  • Inventor: Spends turns to construct various devices that attack foes and buff allies. More advanced inventions take multiple turns to build.
  • Armsmaster: Specializes in dealing damage with every basic weapon type. Has a special attack that uses every single weapon type at once, making it great for sniffing out weaknesses.
  • Arcanist: Support spellcaster, restores party health and extends the duration of buffs past their usual lengths.
  • Conjurer: Offensive support, can apply elemental affinities to physical attacks for broader weakness coverage.

Keep in mind that some of these Jobs also have special requirements for unlocking their skills, which we’ll get to as we go.

Unlocking Inventor

This one’s pretty straightforward. Just head to the Eastern New Delsta Highroad in the Brightlands. It’s right next to where Throne starts her adventure. Look around here, and you’ll find a small cabin that serves as the home of the Inventor Guild. Chat ’em up, and they’ll give you an Inventor License.

In order to unlock Inventor skills, you’ll need to track down specific items around the world that give your character ideas for new creations. These can be both unique items and common consumables.

Unlocking Armsmaster

This is another fairly easy one. Head to Gravell in the Wildlands and seek out the home of the local blacksmith. There’s a guy blocking the front door, so you’ll need to get him to fight you with Hikari’s Challenge or Throne’s Ambush to get him out of your way. Afterward, just talk to the blacksmith within to get your Armsmaster License.

To unlock Armsmaster skills, you need to find rusty weapons around the world and bring them back to the Gravell blacksmith. He’ll forge them into special weapons that, when equipped on an Armsmaster, unlock their skills.

Unlocking Arcanist

This one has a couple of prerequisites. Firstly, Partitio needs to be in your party, which he already should be because he’s delightful. Second, you need to save up 100,000 Leaves. With those fulfilled, visit the town of Tropu’hopu, located east of where Ochette started her adventure. On the far eastern dock, Partitio can negotiate with an NPC to purchase a boat, which you can use to sail eastward to reach The Lost Isle.

There’s a boss you’ll need to defeat in order to access the island proper. Once you make land, climb the ladder and switch to nighttime. A glowing path will appear to the left, at the end of which is a mysterious fellow who will give you an Arcanist License.

There are no special requirements for this Job’s skills beyond paying JP to unlock them.

Unlocking Conjurer

This one’s probably the most involved, as it requires you to clear Ku’s Five-Tiered Tower, located east of the castle’s entrance. You’ll need to finish Hikari’s story before you can access this area.

The Five-Tiered Tower is a series of five boss fights, though thankfully, you don’t need to do them back-to-back. After you defeat a boss, you can leave the tower and return later after healing or leveling up without having to start over. At the very top of the Tower is the Conjurer, who you’ll have to defeat as the fifth boss, after which she’ll cough up the Conjurer License.

There are no special requirements for this Job’s skills beyond paying JP to unlock them.

Unlocking all of the secret Jobs and synergizing them with your base Jobs will go a long way toward ensuring your success in the late-game portions of Octopath Traveler, not to mention ensuring you look cool while doing it.
