How to Unlock Hermetic Order in Civ 6

What secret society?

Togetherness is one of the most basic human needs. One man cannot live without the love and care of others, specially in a world so bent towards conflict. Now, if we bring that to the extreme, then that sense of being together can become dangerous, and even violent. However, most of the time, we don’t get to hear most of what happens with certain associations or “clubs”. Historically, these are deemed secret societies, and some may think they rule the world. Quite honestly, I’m nor ready to say if they do or not. Whether you are ready or not, here is how to unlock the Hermetic Order in Civilization 6.

How to Unlock Hermetic Order

Being able to unlock the Hermetic Order is a very beneficial accomplishment in the game. This order is one of the Secret Societies introduced in the Ethiopia Pack. They will be able to last throughout the game and will b ring unorthodox scientists and alchemists to your civilization. The most important bonuses they give are the Ley Line resource and the Alchemical Society. The Ley Lines are exclusive to the Hermetic Order, and they give standard adjacent bonuses to all districts. The Alchemical Society bonuses are the following:

  • +4 Science
  • +1 Housing
  • +2 Production
  • +1 Citizen slot
  • +1 Great Scientist, Engineer, and Merchant point per turn
  • Grants Gold equal to the adjacency bonus of the district.

In order to unlock the Hermetic Order, you will have to discover a Natural Wonder first. Then, if you accept the invitation of the mystic that arrives when you do, you will unlock its benefits. Here is a table of all the available bonuses you get by unlocking the Hermetic Order and how they evolve through the eras.

In the long run, the Hermetic Order might not be one of the most powerful secret societies of the bunch. But if you want to make the best out of it, you better pile up the amount of Great Persons, that is, historical figures, in your civilization. That way, you will maximize the effect of the Lay Lines. Also, you can pick a civilization that gains bonuses by the presence of Great Persons as well, such as the Kongo, Brazil, Scotland, and Sweden. Good luck, my secret society friend!
