You know how ghost hunting teams on shows such as Ghost Adventures or Ghost Hunters have insanely high definition and priest-approved items that make you question their Hollywood budget and where it comes from? Well that could be you in the Phasmophobia Ascension update. Forgot those grainy, hard-to-see captured footage of ghosts that everyone posts on TikTok, your equipment is the real deal. But getting the good stuff is a commitment and a half. But doing so is an incredibly rewarding process that will massively give you the upper hand against any spirits you come face-to-face with. This is Vincent’s guide on how to unlock every Tier Evidence Item in Phasmophobia and what they do to make your ghost hunting career a little easier.

How to Unlock Tier 3 Items in Phasmophobia

For those looking to gain the bigger upper hand against the entities you visit on your ghost hunting trips, you will likely want to use the Tier 3 Items in Phasmophobia. But to do so, each require a different Level for you to reach by successfully identifying the ghost type regularly enough to rack in the XP and money. If you are aiming for Tier 3 across the board, you need to keep in mind that money is just as important as XP in Phasmophobia. Every Tier unlock requires money to spend on the Tier upgrade. Because of this, you will want a ton of money throughout your playthrough and especially before you Prestige in the game. These are all Levels you need to hit in Phasmophobia in order to unlock all Tier 3 Evidence Items:

  • Crucifix – Level 90 (costs: $20,000)
  • D.O.T.S Projector – Level 60 (costs: $3,000)
  • EMF Reader – Level 64 (costs: $4,500)
  • Firelight – Level 79 (costs: $10,000)
  • Flashlight – Level 35 (costs: $2,500)
  • Ghost Writing Book – Level 63 (costs: $3,000)
  • Headgear – Level 83 (costs: $10,000)
  • Igniter – Level 57 (costs: $750)
  • Incense – Level 85 (costs: $15,000)
  • Motion Sensor – Level 74 (costs: $8,000)
  • Parabolic Microphone – Level 72 (costs: 5,000)
  • Photo Camera – Level 70 (costs: $5,000)
  • Salt – Level 64 (costs: $5,000)
  • Sanity Medication – Level 77 (costs: $5,000)
  • Sound Sensor – Level 58 (costs: $1,500)
  • Spirit Box – Level 54 (costs: $3,000)
  • Thermometer – Level 64 (costs: $3,000)

What Do the Tier 3 Evidence Items Do?

With a range of Tiers to hit, you will likely upgrade specific items way before you get to the higher Levels of 60+. Some of these items such as the Crucifix cost a ton of money ($20,000) which is worth your investment but may not be achievable if you have spent all of your money dishing out upgrades for other Evidence Item Tiers. This is our summary of what every Tier 3 Item does in Phasmophobia.

  • Crucifix – Uncreased range of 4 Meters with 2 total uses. Completely negates the effects of a Hunt.
  • D.O.T.S Projector – Increased range of 7 Meters which oscillates as it scans the room. Can be placed on walls to turn the entire room or corridor int o green lights to provide visual evidence of the spirit.
  • EMF Reader – Increased 3.5 Meters with high accuracy, audio indicator, display screen showcasing distance and direction of the ghost room.
  • Firelight – Increased sanity drain reduction to 66% whilst being waterproof and having an infinite use.
  • Flashlight – Wider radius of life with higher intensity.
  • Ghost Writing Book – Increased range to 5 Meters with high interaction rate to increase your chances of collecting evidence of ghost writing.
  • Headgear – Night vision camera with medium paranormal interference.
  • Igniter – Increased use time of 10 minute duration that is also waterproof.
  • Incense – Increase 5 Meter radius with a duration of 7 seconds. Can completely prevent a ghost attacking in the middle of a Hunt.
  • Motion Sensor – Wider radius with its circular sensor that provides evidence through indicating the player with either light or audio of the ghost’s position in the building.
  • Parabolic Microphone – 30 Meter radius with display screen showing distance and direction of the ghost. An audio version of an EMF Reader.
  • Photo Camera – Faster time to reload and take another picture. Has a high-def display screen with medium paranormal interference.
  • Salt – A total of 3 consumable uses that slows down the ghost’s movements during a Hunt if they pass through the Salt.
  • Sanity Pills – Sanity restores in 10 seconds with added 10 second increased sprint speed.
  • Sound Sensor – Detects 5, 10, and 15 ranges with circle, cone and side sensors.
  • Spirit Box – Increased 7.5 Meter radius with high response rate due to clear audio from both parties. Ghosts can hear you clearly and you can hear responses far easier than other Tiers.
  • Thermometer – High accuracy with high speed.
  • Tripod – Oscillates and can be controlled with low chance of it being knocked down through paranormal interactions.
  • UV Light – 1.5 UV Charge Time with a wider spotlight to detect ghost’s prints.
  • Video Camera – High-def picture quality with low paranormal interference.
