How to Get Spirit Box to Tier 3 in Phasmophobia

Hello from the other side

Convening with the dead is not something that is on everybody’s bucket list unless you are a paranormal investigator. After recently dabbling with a ouija board myself, I came to the conclusion that as much as I do not believe in ghosts, I for a moment felt the hairs at the back of my neck stand up at the thought of something from the other side talking back to me. Whilst my board was not as fancy as the Walmart version, the Spirit Box from Phasmophobia is a completely different piece of kit. Capable of providing communication between the living and the dead, the Spirit Box offers a quicker form of conversation against the ouija board. This is Vincent’s guide on how to get the Tier 3 Spirit Box in Phasmophobia.

The Use of the Spirit Box in Phasmophobia – What Each Tier Does

The Spirit Box has been around since the beginning of ghost hunting video games. It is used to converse with any ghosts present within a 7.5 metre radius of you with the device in use. You can communicate via a list of commands that must be enunciated and read out exactly as written from the list below to guarantee that the ghost has understood what you are trying to ask. The list of commands are:

  • Location: “Are you here?”, “Is there anyone here?”, and “Where are you?”
  • Identity: “How old or how young are you?”
  • Presence: “Show yourself” and “Give us a sign”
  • Communication: “What do you want?” and “Talk to me or talk to us”
  • Act: “Open a door” and “Turn on or turn off the light”

With the latest update for Phasmophobia changes the system in how Evidence Items previously worked, you will now be able to expand on your equipment used by playing the game, correctly identifying spirit types and boosting your cash to afford newer, more powerful tools to bring into the match with you. The Spirit Box has 3 total Tiers, with each Tier increasing in its ability and power.

Tier 1 is one of your starter kit items which offers the most basic way to converse with the spirit, resulting in players having a harder time listening to each answer or having success in the ghost actually making out what you are saying. Tier 2 is the standard Spirit Box that could always be seen in Phasmophobia prior to Ascension. Finally, Tier 3 has a larger radius of effect, with clearer sound and little difficulty in getting the spirit to hear you. Keep in mind that you should refer to the color of the Spirit Box at all times to indicate whether or not the ghost acknowledged your question but failed to answer. All heard commands with no reply will show a Red LED light whilst commands replied to will show a White light.

What Does the Tier 3 Spirit Box Do and How Do You Get it?

For those looking to get their hands on the Tier 3 Spirit Box, you must reach Level 54 in Phasmophobia. Each upgrade will set you back a bit of money and to max out the Spirit Box you will need to pay out $3,000 to utilize the third Tier of this item. It is best to focus your playthrough on consistently getting the correct identity of the ghost in every match you enter. For the Phasmophobia veterans out there, we recommend using this custom difficulty to gain XP super fast which will get you to Level 50+ at an amazing rate to use Ascension Tier 3 equipment:

  • Sanity: 0%
  • Pill restoration: 0%
  • Sanity drain speed: 200%
  • Sprinting: OFF
  • Player speed: 100%
  • Flashlight: OFF
  • Lose items/consumables: ON

Keep in mind that this is only for the players who have been playing Phasmophobia long before the Ascension update. We highly recommend that newcomers do not try this difficulty until they have mastered the tell-tale signs of each ghost type in the game.
