When on vacation, it’s important to pack enough clothes for the whole trip. Let me tell you, I can tell you from experience that it is absolutely miserable to wear the same shirt and undies for multiple days on a trip. Even if your trip is a spiritual journey across a magical archipelago, that’s no excuse. Here’s how to unlock cosmetics in Tchia.

In Tchia, you start with Tchia’s default mission dress, sensible hairstyle, and bare feet. It’s a cute outfit, for sure, but why should we limit things to a single outfit? Throughout the game, you can unlock a variety of different cosmetic options for Tchia, from traditional island outfits to modern clothes, and mix and match them at your pleasure.

Where to Get Cosmetics

So how do you actually get all of these cool clothes? The first and foremost way is to simply progress in the game. Every time you go through a major setpiece event, you’ll usually receive a handful of new cosmetic options, often ones reminiscent of what you just did.

Besides that, you can also get cosmetics by cracking open Valuables Chests. These chests are hidden throughout the archipelago and can be marked on your map via Points of View. You can also get a chest by clearing out a Maano camp, destroying the soldiers and burning their cloth piles.

Finally, you can get cosmetics by spending your resources. Some larger towns and cities have big claw machines in them; deposit a trophy from any challenge activity into the slot, and you’ll get three chances to fish up a random cosmetic prize. Additionally, some towns have Cosmetics Boxes, locked presents that bestow cosmetic sets when opened. To open a Cosmetics Box, you’ll need to spend an indicated number of Braided Trinkets and Pearls. Don’t worry about wasting resources on unwanted outfits, as each box has a sign next to it showing what you’ll get from opening it.

The cosmetics Tchia wears don’t affect the overall gameplay, but hey, this whole adventure is something of a coming-of-age for her. Give her the opportunity to experiment with her look a bit!
