While one of the primary appeals of both a Lego set and Lego Brawls is building your minifig dude from scratch, half of the fun of opening a new Lego set is seeing all the new minifigs that come with it. In Lego Brawls, these new minifigs appear in the form of Champions, and just like real minifigs, you gotta collect ’em all! Here’s how to unlock Champions in Lego Brawls.
How to Unlock Champions in Lego Brawls
As you compete in various brawls in Lego Brawls, you may occasionally receive a notification that you’ve been challenged by a Champion. Champions are specialized minifig characters with a static set of items and abilities. When you receive the notification that you’ve been challenged, you can accept it to immediately launch into a one-on-one battle against the Champion in question. If you’ve ever played a Super Smash Bros. game, it’s a lot like how the secret characters would challenge you after a match, except there are no particular prerequisites to challenging Champions.

If you successfully defeat a Champion in the one-on-one match, you’ll unlock them to play as. Here’s where things get interesting, though: Champions can’t be customized like your regular brawler minifigs, nor can their items be utilized by your brawlers. While you’ve unlocked them to play as, you haven’t unlocked them entirely.
To unlock a Champion entirely, you need to play as them a lot in brawls and use their abilities. As you use a Champion’s abilities, their item experience bars will fill up. When you fill an experience bar completely, that item and its associated ability will be added to your customization inventory, where you can apply it to your regular brawlers. Once you’ve maxed out every one of a Champion’s items, then they’ll be unlocked entirely, and you can use their parts and items freely in customization.
After you’ve finished unlocking a Champion, keep competing in brawls and wait for the next Champion challenge. Lather, rinse, repeat!
