You’re going to want to figure out how to unlock Breach and Clear, or Weakened Clear, in Destiny 2 as soon as possible. It was a META-defining perk that saw Anarchy become the best weapon in the game during Season of the Splicer, and it’s back around for Season 19 – Season of the Seraph.
I’m going to walk you through how to unlock the new Breach and Clear in Destiny 2 right now. I’ll also explain what it does. It’s not as powerful as it used to be, but it’s still a must-use, so the sooner you get your hands on it – the better.
Destiny 2 Season 19 – How to Unlock Breach and Clear
Breach and Clear is a seasonal artifact mod during Season 19 in Destiny 2. So, you’re going to have to level up your seasonal artifact in order to get it. Or get the newer version of it, at least.
The new version of Breach and Clear is called Weakened Clear and is in column five of the artifact. That means you’ll have to level your artifact up to tier five to unlock it. It’s going to take you a hot minute to get that much experience, so be prepared for the grind.
While the return of Breach and Clear was confirmed in Bungie’s first of December TWAB, we didn’t get too much information regarding the changes being made to the mod. We now know that this new version functions the same, except it applies Weaken to targets rather than a straight debuff.
What Does Breach and Clear Do in Destiny 2?
Breach and Clear was first introduced as a seasonal mod during Season of the Splicer. It was a tier-five mod then, just like it is now – granted it has a brand new name: Weakened Clear.
With the mod equipped, damaging a boss, Champion, or breaking a shield with your grenade launcher reloads your stowed weapons, which is fine. More importantly, though, doing that damage debuffs the target you damaged, making them take 30% more damage for 10 seconds.
The new version of Breach and Clear, Weakened Clear, operates the exact same way. However, instead of granting 30% more damage for 10 seconds, it applies the Void-specific Weaken debuff to the target.
That’s an insane debuff and easily META-defining. It may not be as good as it used to be, but it should still be a go-to option for the duration of Season 19.
