If you’ve played Madden, you’ve felt that sting of a play that seems unstoppable or cheap. This has been the case for decades. The play or plays may change, but typically you’re facing something that you have an issue stopping. QB sneaks can feel this way at times as it’s essentially a free few inches. While inches don’t matter a lot of the times in football, at times their absolutely crucial. None more-so than at the goal line. You may already be thinking that the opponent scored the touchdown, but don’t count your defense out to early.
How to Stop QB Sneak in Madden 23
This is a double-edged sword as it will stop the QB sneak and even stop a lot of runs up the middle by the FB/HB. The issue comes from loading up the middle, leaving players vulnerable to pitches or passes.
You’ll want to run a 5-3 MLB Gap A, this will give you an extra DT which will be crucial. Pinch your D-line during a pre-play adjustment by hitting RB/R1 and then down on left stick. A pinch will force the D-line to bunch together in the center. The next adjust on the same screen will be a run up the middle, this commits your defense to pushing hard on the offensive line in the center.
With these adjustments, you’ll blow up most QB sneaks and play action runs as the D-line will abandon everything else to attack the middle. Again, this is risky because basically anything that’s not a run up or near the middle will leave you, essentially, defenseless.
