How to Audible in Madden 23

A lot can change after the huddle and before the snap

Outside of throwing passes with pinpoint accuracy, the primary role of a quarterback in Madden 23 is to read the defense. While some of the better QBs in the league can make plays happen after the ball has snapped, the truly elite QBs switch things up at the last second before the play has commenced. More commonly referred to as an audible.

How to Audible in Madden 23

In Madden 23, teams are constantly strategizing to come up with new ways to beat their opponent. Which means they there’s a good chance that every team has some sort of answer for the play you’re about to run. While not always the case, chances are you will encounter at least a few situations where the defense (or the offense) has completely read the play before it happens.

So, to change the play at the last minute and catch your opponent off guard, you’re going to need to call an audible. Here’s how you can call an audible in Madden 23;

  • Standard Audible – Press X (for Xbox) or Square (for PlayStation) to bring up the audible menu prior to the snap. Then, use the D-Pad to scroll through the available formations and select the audible you want using the corresponding buttons.
  • Quick Audible – Press X (for Xbox) or Square (for PlayStation) to bring up the audible menu prior to the snap. Then, flick the Right Analog Stick in any of the 4 directions to switch plays.
  • Offense – On the D-Pad, press Up to Quick Pass, Down to Run, Left for Play Action Pass or Right for Standard Pass.
  • Defense – On the D-Pad, press Up for Cover 2 Man, Down to Blitz, Left for Cover 3 and Right for Tampa 2.

Keep in mind that the Standard Audibles and Quick Audibles can be used for either offense or defense. You can also perform a Playmaker Flip on offense to change the direction of your running play by flicking the Right Analog Stick left or right prior to the snap.
