A new Expedition is up for grabs, and this one will have you doing some restoration. While it may sound a little bit less action-heavy than the other expansions before it, it brings several new rewards and mechanics that will surely entice the most avid No Man’s Sky veterans. It will last for six weeks total, so you better start completing all the milestones in this Expedition. Here is how to start and complete the Utopia Expedition in No Man’s Sky.
How to Start and Complete Utopia Expedition
Utopia Expedition is now live on No Man’s Sky. It is the ninth Expedition available, which will task the players to restore an entire star system. This will be a huge enterprise and quite a unique one, consisting of five different phases which will have you travelling from planet to planet. You will craft, you will collect data, you will do some base building, discover new creatures, etcetera.
In order to start the Utopia Expedition, you will have to start a fresh game. Select Single Player mode, create a New Save File, and you will be taken to the Mode Selection Screen. You will see that there is a mode called Community Expeditions, which is the mode that will start Expedition 9: Utopia. This will be a fresh start, so go ahead and click on it to begin.
Utopia Expedition Phases Explained
There are a total of five phases to complete, so after you finish reading this introduction, you will find all the missions, their objectives, and rewards that make up the entire Utopia Expedition. As you can imagine, as you progress through the different phases, each of them will become more difficult. Not by the nature of the specific missions you will have to do, since some of them are quite similar to the ones that preceded then, but because you will face more hazardous lifeforms and even dangerous biomes.
However, if you continue to unlock everything that is given thanks to the milestones you complete, there will be no issues that you won’t be able to sort. Once you complete all the milestones for one of the Phases, you will begin the next, which means travelling to a new planet in the system. So, if you are ready to begin restoring the Utopia system, then go ahead and start a new game, click on the Community Expedition mode, and begin your efforts to complete each phase and collect its rewards. Unlocking the Utopia Speeder Starship
In order to unlock the sought after Utopia Speeder Starship, you will have to complete the entire Utopia Expedition. That is, completing all the Phases, with every single missions that belong to all five of them. It will be the final unlock, with the Final Phase only being a recount of what you have already done in the past 5 phases. So, basically, complete all of the above milestones in the Utopia Expedition and you will have the new Utopia Speeder Starship. This new starship, according to Hello Games, is “plated with radiation-resistant armor, and engineered with an aerodynamic profile for agility during atmospheric flight”. That’s quite an enticing offer, if I ever saw one. And believe me, I have.

As you can see, all the newly announced items, cosmetics, and the Speeder in the Fractal Update will be unlocked naturally by progressing throughout the Utopia Expedition. Some missions will be more entertaining than other, but it is a very well-balanced experience. These missions are not complicated, so make sure to follow them promptly in order to get your rewards.
