The saddle in Minecraft is surprisingly versatile and can be used in creative ways. Even though there are only three mobs that you can put a saddle on, its use can very much be something to heavily benefit from. And one of those mobs that you can benefit from is the Strider, so here is how to put a saddle on a Strider in Minecraft and its benefits.
How to ride a Strider in Minecraft
For you to put on a saddle to a Strider, you will first need to have a saddle on your hand then right-click the Strider. This will automatically equip the Strider with the saddle and any player will now be able to ride them.
However, there are conditions that you would need to keep in mind before and after you put your saddle on the Strider:
- First is that you can only put your saddle on adult Striders, the game mechanics do not allow baby Striders to wear saddles.
- Second is that Striders with Piglins or other Striders on top of them will need to be removed before you can apply a saddle on them.

One good thing about having a Strider to ride is that Striders have the ability to walk on lava, meaning that the lava ocean in the Nether can be explored or easily traversed with the help of your newly obtained Strider companion.
After successfully applying the saddle on your selected Strider, you can ride it around but will need a specific tool so that you can steer them in the right direction. This tool is called a Warped Fungus on a Stick, if you put this item out in your hand, the Strider will start to walk forward towards where you are facing. Right-click on it and the Strider will then get a boost of speed.
Striders do not jump while you are mounted, so traversing terrain can be a hassle. Striders walk extremely slowly when out of the lava. Each right click from the Warped Fungus on a Stick reduces its durability.
