How to Pause the Dino Game on Google Chrome

Sometimes your eyes just need a break from all the flying cacti

The Google Chrome dino game is one of the most well-known games on the planet, but you’ll never see it at a Game Stop or on Steam. This survival game is completely free to play, but you can only access it by disconnecting yourself from the internet, or by going to the chrome://dino/ website (just copy/paste it into your address bar to play with Wi-Fi). This game technically doesn’t have an end, so the only goal is really just to survive as long as you possibly can. All you need to do to accomplish that is to jump over various cacti and pterodactyls, which sounds a lot easier than it actually is.

Playing the dino game during the early levels is fun, but once it starts speeding up, it can get downright stressful. Not only does the game continue to pelt you with cacti and pterodactyls, but it also starts throwing them at you at nauseatingly breakneck speeds! These obstacles only get thrown at you faster and faster the longer you play, which can become more stressful than entertaining after a while. Thankfully, there’s a way to pause this game if you ever feel like you need a break.

How to Pause the Dino Game on Google Chrome

Pausing this game is much easier than you’d think! Not many people even know that you can pause this game at all, let alone easily. Keep reading to find out how to pause the dino game on Google Chrome on PC and mobile:

How to Pause the Dino Game on PC

Pausing this game on PC is a bit different than pausing this game on mobile, but it’s still a fairly simple process. All you need to do to pause the game is hit the “Alt” key on your keyboard. You’re able to utilize this feature at any point in the game, though you should definitely be wary of pausing while in the later stages of the game.

If you’ve been playing the game for a while and pause it while it’s chucking cacti at you at supersonic speed, it’ll be a lot harder to jump back into it after your break! All you need to do to unpause the game is click on your screen, rather than press the “Alt” button again. Good luck!

How to Pause the Dino Game on Mobile

Unfortunately, there is no known way to pause the dino game on mobile. The Google Chrome dino game has two versions: the desktop version and the mobile version. Contrary to popular belief, these versions are not the same. The mobile version is slightly different in the sense that it lacks certain features, such as the “pause” feature and the “duck” feature.

The only way to pause the dino game on mobile is to connect a physical keyboard to the mobile device; connecting a keyboard to your mobile device would essentially convert the mobile version of the game to the desktop version, which sort of defeats the purpose, but it’s the only way you’d be able to pause the game (and use the “duck” feature) on mobile.
