To begin fishing at all, whether actively or passively in Gloria Victis, you will need to have unlocked fishing rods. This can be done by progressing enough of the way through your Character Development skill tree in the game. After that, you will be able to start fishing like a pro! Fishing in Gloria Victis rewards you well, since a single cod goes for several silver.

To passively fish in Gloria Victis, you will want to use fishing traps that catch fish. These require little to no maintenance, and you can check back on them as often as you would like to. While the traps are running, they will occasionally catch fish, although the rate they do so is slower than if you were to actively fish. However, this method does provide you with a substantial passive income, allowing you to invest that extra currency into other parts of your character, such as your gear.

Also, you can passively fish by using your fishing rod, however this will also yield lower results than if you were to fish actively. The main advantage to passive fishing though is that you as the player do not need to constantly be watching your character fish, so this is a great activity to run in the background while you are busy. If your character runs out of bait or other required fishing material, then they will stop fishing and wait until you return to replenish your stores of those items that you now need. Good luck, and happy fishing!
