Seasonal rewards are something of a new thing to me. I’m a little old-school, and whenever I bought a game disc or cartridge, that was it. No more updates, no glitch patches, only the game as it was conceived. Well, things have changed, and a new Season along an Expansion have arrived in the Destiny 2 world. Today, we will talk about how to get those seasonal rewards, and they are in the form of a classic treasure chest. Here is how to open Defiant Chests in Destiny 2 Lightfall.
How to Open Defiant Chests in Destiny 2 Lightfall
Defiant Chests are the seasonal chests currently available that will house all seasonal gear in the current Season of the Defiance, the first Lightfall Season lapsing from February 28 to May 22, 2023. They are found at the end of the seasonal playlist activity called Defiant Battleground. Thankfully, during this season, all you need to collect to open them is Defiant Keys. Yes, no more Seraph Keycodes, Map Fragments, or Treasure Coordinates. Just Defiant Keys. And well, there are quite a bunch of activities you will be able to do to get them. One negative side of only having one requirement to open the chest is: their drops are quite uncommon. That means having to farm them is the best course of action. Here are the activities you can do to unlock the Defiant Keys and open the Defiant Chests.
Defiant Key Activities
- Completing Lightfall missions.
- Taking part of The Terminal Overload activity in Neomuna.
- Playing Crucible matches.
- Playing Gambit matches.
- Starting and completing Vanguard Ops playlist activites.
- Taking part of Raids.
- Claiming them in the War Table after gaining Seasonal Reputation Marks.

As you can see, getting Defiant Keys is just as easy as continuously playing the game. So just go ahead and do that while the season continues, and you will be completely fine. I suggest doing some extra Crucible matches, you will be able to farm this way more effectively. Good luck with those Defiant Chests!
