If there’s one thing to commend Epic Games on, it’s the fact that Fortnite truly is the most ever-growing title for players to engage with, currently. In the last Chapter, players were able to engage with sprinting, climbing, tornados, and even a new buildless mode.
Now that Fortnite’s Chapter 4 Season 1 has kicked off, it too brings some major changes to the game thanks to Unreal Engine 5’s innovation. One specific thing that’s been highlighted, is yet another upgrade in movement; mantling. But what is it and how does it really work? Today, we’ll explain how to mantle in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 so that you get a leg up on the competition.
How to Mantle in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1
When it comes to mantling, its base function is to make it even easier for you to evade enemies or make it to falling allies even quicker. In fact, Epic Games thinks that it’s such an important aspect of Fortnite’s gameplay that there are challenges and objectives that require you to mantle so many times in order to complete them. But now that you know its importance, how does it work?
Well, mantling is actually pretty easy to do once you get the hang of it. In fact, it’s a mechanic that piggy-backs off of the sprinting that we received in Chapter 3. You simply toggle sprint and run toward a fence or something like it, and you’ll seamlessly mantle over or across the surface.

It’s important to note that you absolutely have to be sprinting in order for this to work, otherwise you’ll just be running into and get stopped by the object. You also do not need to hit your designated jump bottom either, as you’re simply running directly into the object and allowing your character to perform the action of mantling themselves.
So, now that you know how to mantle in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, you shouldn’t have any issues completing challenges or rushing to your teammates when trouble begins to brew.
