How To Make A Tent Shelter in Sons of the Forest

I hope it is hand-proof.

I have never used a tent in a real wild setting. The most I did was when I was a little kid, and we had a huge tent built on one of my friend’s backyard. Yes, it was a big backyard, and it was a big tent as well, we were like ten kids in there. It was fun, but there was a big house just next to us with all things necesarry to survive and even more. Thankfully, things in video games are simpler than real life, sometimes. With that being said, let us do what I could never do in my childhood and learn how to make a tent shelter in Sons of the Forest.

How To Make A Tent Shelter in Sons of the Forest

While traversing a hostile environment filled with mystery and very disturbing enemies, the least you could have when trying to rest is a tent shelter. You do need to sleep, as your energy will determine your ability to survive as well. Imagine trying to run and then fainting because you couldn’t rest during the night before. That’s a big no, no. So, you do need a shelter. And it is quite easy to build, so let’s get going.

First, you will need to have some material. More specifically, you need two sticks and one tarp. Sticks are all over the world. Well, not really, but they are located across the ground in the forest and in the beach. You can also use an axe to bring down some small trees and get some sticks that way. You can find a tarp in one of the containers you find at the beach, near your spawn point. To build it, press I to open your inventory and left-click the tarp. Choose the place you will build the tent and spread it out. Then, on each side, use a stick to lift it up (or just one side, if you wish).

How to Break Sticks in Sons of the Forest

If you wish to build a fire to accompany you in your tent shelter, you will need some sticks as well and your lighter, which you get with your emergency pack. You first need to break them, though, but it is quite simple. Just click I to open the inventory, click the sticks to equip them, locate the place you wish to build your fire in, and click again. You will break the sticks and place them in the ground. Use several sticks and then light it up by equipping the lighter and then pressing E.

How to Sleep in Sons of the Forest

This is quite obvious, but once you have already built your tent, get close to it, and you will be presented with two options as shown below. You can either save by pressing E, or you can sleep by pressing Z (I understood that reference). Get a good night’s rest and prepare for a new day of survival.

And that’s pretty much it! Go ahead and pick all the necessary items and build your very basic base by mounting your tent and even building a very primitive fire to keep you warm. Be sure to sleep and save in order to keep all things organized and with a promising future. I hope you don’t get killed by hands during the night!
