What is the Purpose of the Heavy Work Bench?

The Heavy Work Bench cannot be used to craft standard recipes as part of the common Work Bench. Instead, the Heavy Work Bench offers its own unique set of crafting recipes available to the player. Items such as Gem Locks (container for Large Gems), Trapped Chests (an unusable chest that once opened will emit a signal) and other decorative items such as Paintings and Statues are available to make using this Crafting Station. More functional items are also included, such as Tall Gates and Boulders. There is a total of 44 Crafting Stations available in Terraria, all capable of crafting different usable objects in the game.

To craft the Heavy Work Bench, you need a combination of 12 Wood and 8 Iron Bars. There are no specific criteria on the type of Wood that is needed in this recipe. The simplest and quickest way of obtaining normal Wood is through chopping trees using an axe or chainsaw. Next you will need to craft 8 Iron Bars. Iron Bars are crafted using the recipe of 3 Iron Ores using the Furnace Crafting Station. If you do not know how to make a Furnace, the recipe you need is 20 Stone Blocks, 4 Wood and 3 Torches. A Furnace can be crafted in the Work Bench. Iron Ores can be found in the Underground and Cavern layers of the world.

Now that you should have the Work Bench and Furnace crafted to make the Iron Bars, you will next need to make either a Lead or Iron Anvil. This can be done using the basic Terraria Work Bench. For the Anvils you will need either 5 Lead Bars or 5 Iron Bars to craft to their corresponding Station. With the Anvil made you can now make the Heavy Work Bench. Use the Lead/Iron Anvil and craft the Bench with the materials of 12 Wood and 8 Iron Bars. With this new Crafting Station made, you can now play around with a new set of decorative furniture.
