How to Infuse Weapons and Armor in Destiny 2

Time to say goodbye.

Upgrading weapons will oftentimes require items and resources you will be able to collect around the world of your favorite video game. But sacrificing weapons to cannibalize them to get your weapon of choice better stats and a higher level? Well, that is brutal, and quite ingenious as well. That is exactly what we will have to do, today. Here is how to infuse weapons and armor in Destiny 2.

How to Infuse Weapons and Armor in Destiny 2

No, infusion in Destiny 2 is not referring to a hot drink prepared by some leaf soaking. Having said that, I really enjoy some infusion tea, I was converted to it by my wife. Anyway, Infusion is a fancy word for upgrading. And you will be able to upgrade both weapons and armor, but only the Legendary and Exotic types. In short, to infuse a weapon is to destroy other weapons in order to level up its power. However, the trick is that the weapons you effectively destroy must be more powerful than your current weapon. Not only that, but you can only infuse weapons and armor of the same type as your target item. That is, only rifles for rifles, and only helmets for helmets. Basically, infusion is a sacrifice to keep your favorite weapon relevant.

However, it is not as simple as just destroying it. You will need to use some items to be able to do that: Glimmer and Legendary Shards. You can get Shards by dismantling Legendary (3) and Exotic (5-10) weapons and armor. To get Glimmer, you will have to dismantle Rare items (blue). Finally, the amounts of Legendary Shards necessary for Infusion vary according to the weapon rarity match: if you are infusing a Rare item into a Legendary or Exotic will cost you 4 Shards. Infusing a Legendary item into another Legendary will cost you 1 Shard (the same applies to Exotic ones).

And that’s Infusion for you. Be sure to select the right weapons that bring more to the table and also fit your play style to be infused. You will always encounter more Legendary and Exotic weapons and armor, so don’t get too attached to them if you are about to infuse them. Have a good one!
