Throughout your adventures in the Forgotten Realms, you will get to meet several unique companions that will be able to join your party permanently. The amount of variety will become useful for learning about new backgrounds, as well as adapting yourself to certain combat situations. However, getting bit by one of your companions surely wasn’t in the plans, wasn’t it? Anyway, here is how to get rid of Bloodless in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Bloodless is a status effect in Baldur’s Gate 3 which will make your character feel drowsy, while also granting a -1 debuff on Attack Rolls, Saving Throws, and most Ability Checks. Spoilers ahead! You will receive this status effect if you let Astarion drink your blood during the first Long Rest after he is recruited. You will then become Bloodless, while he becomes Happy, having a +1 on Attack Rolls, Saving Throws, and most Ability Checks (that is, the total opposite of being Bloodless).

To get rid of the Bloodless effect in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will have two options:

  • You can take another Long Rest after becoming Bloodless. You will need the necessary supplies to do so, so be sure to have them in your inventory or purchase them from traders. A Short Rest will not do the trick.
  • Alternatively, you can cast any spell that will cure diseases. For example, a Paladin can cast “Lay on Hands”, while a Cleric can cast “Lesser Restoration”. This will remove the effect entirely.

If you have the means necessary to get rid of Bloodless as soon as possible, then letting Astarion drink your blood may provide some combat advantage. After all, getting rid of the effect is not as complicated as you might expect. After all, vampire bites have proven to be far worse and deadlier in other media.
