How to Get and Use Spider Silk in Dark and Darker?

You're not locked in here with the spider, the spider's locked in here with you

In Dark and Darker, you don’t normally trigger a deadly trap in the middle of the room on purpose. However, for the sake of our needs, we’re going to delve into the Ruins and figure out how to get and use Spider Silk in Dark and Darker.

Spider Silk is one of many materials players find throughout their runs in Dark and Darker. This rare item spawns from an equally rare enemy known as the Giant Spider. The Giant Spider spawns in certain locations of the High Roller Goblin Camp, but your best bet will be finding it in the Ruins.

From the center of the map, make your way northeast to an underground temple area. Within the area should be a chalice you can grab. You’ll want to go ahead and make sure you’re ready to fight as soon as you grab the ‘loot.’

The chalice might seem friendly at first; however, upon grabbing it, a fake wall will drop, revealing the dastardly Giant Spider. Bob and weave through its attacks in order to kill it. Sadly, the Spider Silk has about a 2% chance to drop from the spider, so you might be farming here in a handful of runs. But if you’re lucky enough to snag some of these sticky items, you’ll be able to create some great armor with it.

Dark and Darker allows you to take items you’ve found through your triumphs and trade them in for some sweet delicious gear and loot. Spider Silk is used to craft darkness gear from the Tailor. When viewing their inventory, here are the items you can use Spider Silk on:

  • Robe of Darkness (1x Spider Silk, 2x Enchanted Dark Fabric, 25x Gold)
  • Cowl of Darkness (1x Spider Silk, 1x Enchanted Dark Fabric, 25x Gold)
  • Shoes of Darkness (1x Spider Silk, 1x Enchanted Dark Fabric, 25x Gold)
  • Cloak of Darkness (1x Spider Silk, 3x Grave Essence, 1x Enchanted Dark Fabric, 200x Gold)

The Robe and Cowl of Darkness are exclusive to both Wizards and Clerics, with the former also being compatible with Warlocks. And while none of this gear is top tier, the Darkness gear is perfect for those adventurers who want to have a backup set of gear in case some runs don’t go so well. However, the gear does look pretty flashy, and given the low drop rate of Spider Silk, a whole set of this armor could fetch a pretty penny on the trading board.
