How to Get and Use Ancient Magic Throw in Hogwarts Legacy

Surprisingly, telekinesis, the ability to move objects with your mind, isn’t really a thing in the Wizarding World. You can summon stuff to your side, but you can’t remotely grab something and chuck it at someone’s head. Or at least, you couldn’t until now. Here’s how to get and use Ancient Magic Throw in Hogwarts Legacy.

How to Get and Use Ancient Magic Throw in Hogwarts Legacy

Ancient Magic Throw is one of your Essential Spells in Hogwarts Legacy. This means that, rather than needing to be equipped to your spell slots like your regular spells, it has its own dedicated controller binding and function. If you ever need to use it, it’s never more than a tap of R1/RB away.

As the name probably tipped you off, Ancient Magic Throw allows you to use your mysterious ancient magic abilities to telekinetically pluck an object from the surrounding environment, hold it above your head, and sling it at some unsuspecting punk. It’s great for busting through physical shields that magical shots can’t pierce, and the impact will leave most enemies dazed for a few moments, allowing you to follow up with other attacks.

Unlocking Ancient Magic Throw

Ancient Magic Throw is unlocked for you during the quest “Welcome to Hogsmeade.” After you’ve explored the town a bit and visited all of the local shops, an Armoured Troll will attack the town square. You’ll need to wear him down a bit with your regular spells, but after you enter the second phase of his health bar, you’ll get a prompt to perform an Ancient Magic Throw.

Press the displayed button to lob an object at the Troll, then follow up with a few Basic Casts to maximize your damage. Just keep doing that, and eventually, you’ll defeat him with a flashy ancient magic spell. After you use Reparo to fix the damage the Troll did, you’ll complete the quest, and unlock the ability to use Ancient Magic Throw. As I said, it doesn’t need to be set to a slot to use; just tap that button whenever you want to grab and throw an object.
