While diehard fans of consoles and PC will be just getting the game for their favorite device, those in the middle are yet to decide and that’s why we’re here. In this article, we will showcase all the differences between getting and playing Hogwarts Legacy on different platforms.

Choose the Perfect Platform for Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy is coming out for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. However, not all of these platforms will see the same performance nor will they see the game on the same date.

Top Choices for Playing Hogwarts Legacy

For the quickest opportunity to play and the best visual experience, you should go for either PC or PS5. Pay attention to the price difference though, because the PC version is selling for $59.99 while the PS5 version is $69.99.

PC will allow for great framerate and graphics options but it might lack good optimization once a battle with mass spells coming out occurs. Just to be able to run Hogwarts Legacy you will need to have at least an Intel i5-6600 (3.3GHz), 16GB of RAM, 85GB of storage, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 with 4GB of memory. This will get the game running on low-Quality Settings at 720p with 30fps.

If you’re looking for an Ultra 4k experience you will need to have an Intel i7-10700 (3.80GHz) with 32GB of RAM, Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti, and 85GB of SSD storage. This will run the game on ultra-quality settings at 2160p and 60 fps. Essentially there are no limits to running Hogwarts Legacy as long as your computer is able to take it.

If PS5 is your choice, you will also have an option of playing in 4k but at a lower framerate than PC players. The main advantage of PS5 is that you will have haptic feedback for various environmental and spell effects. It is said that each spell will feel differently so if you like to immerse yourself in the video game you are playing, PS5 might be the right choice for you.

Follow-up Platforms for Hogwarts Legacy

Among the good but not-so-perfect choices for Hogwarts Legacy are Xbox Series X and S, followed by Xbox one and PS4. Xbox Series X and S will have 4k support but they don’t have any additional advantages like haptic touch to make up for the lack of fps that PCs offer.

PS4 and Xbox One will see Hogwarts Legacy on April 4 and probably won’t include the 4k options but we still don’t know that for sure.

Another thing going for the whole Xbox family is the could saving option. This means that if you have a Windows PC and an Xbox you can load your saves from the other device and continue where you left off. Having this seamless cloud experience can be a deal breaker for many.

Lastly, there is Nintendo Switch which will get Hogwarts Legacy on July 25 and it’s too soon to tell what we can expect from this. Having in mind that this game is huge and takes a lot of resources to run, some Reddit users speculated that it might be streamed through Wi-Fi on Nintendo Switch instead of being run by the console itself. This is unconfirmed and we will have to wait until July to see how the game will behave in the palm of our hand.
