How to fix Update Stuck on Preparing for Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension

If your update is stuck on preparing for Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension, you can try some of the following solutions. Close all background applications taking up resources, check your hard drive space, restart the download, and repairing Apex Legends.

Whether you’re on Steam or Origin, many players see their downloads and install getting stuck somewhere around 13% or 17%. Others get stuck on verifying game files. Before trying any of the solutions before, make sure you are patient and give it around fifteen minutes to resume before canceling. The update is hefty and takes a while to download, unpack, and install.

During the preparation phase, Origin and Steam tend to take up a lot of memory and resources. For that reason, you may want to close all background applications and any programs that could be consuming your memory. You can open your Task Manager or Resource Monitor from the Windows menu and check what’s using the most memory and CPU. If it’s a non-vital Windows process, end the task, which should help speed up the process.

Cancel and Repair

If you wait a reasonable amount of time, and the download is still at 13% or 17%, you can try canceling and repairing. While unpackaging files does take a long time, it should not take longer than thirty minutes to an hour to complete the task. At that point, you can cancel the download and repair the game. For Origin users, click on My Game Library on the left side of the client. Right-click on Apex Legends and select “Repair.”

Wait for the process to finish, and then try downloading the update again. This solution should be the last fix you need to get it to work. Another thing to check is that you have plenty of disk space available on your Apex Legends hard drive. As long as you have enough space, other programs aren’t taking up your resources, and your internet is working correctly, you should now be good to go.
