A fan-favorite weapon attachment in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, the Spotter Scope, has seemingly stopped having the ability to target enemies, sending players online to sort out what can be done in order to fix it. If you’re one of those players and are eager to get the Spotter Scope back up and running, we may be able to help, as there’s quite a bit of information out regarding it. So, let’s talk about how to fix the Spotter Scope in Warzone 2.0 DMZ and explain why it’s not working.
How to Fix spotter scope not working in Warzone 2 DMZ
Before we get into any how-to’s or current measures being taken by Infinity Ward to get it working properly, it’s important to talk about why it isn’t working. Over the last couple of weeks, players have discovered a glitch that allows them to exploit the Spotter Scope, allowing them to get certain unfair advantages in their DMZ sessions. It’s also seen issues with distance, as it’s been pretty inaccurate at times.
As Infinity Ward has become aware of the exploit and distance issue, they’ve effectively disabled the ability to mark targets using the Spotter Scope. This information came to light directly from Infinity Ward itself via a Twitter post.

Players are encouraged to take a look at upcoming patch notes on the official Call of Duty website. There, it says “Temporarily disabled the ability to mark targets using the Spotter Scope while we investigate an issue.” as well as “Fixed an issue that caused the incorrect information to appear on the distance indicator on the left side of the screen when using a Spotter Scope.”.
Additionally, players can look at the official Modern Warfare 2 Trello board for even more info, though it mostly says the same kind of information. While the Spotter Scope can’t do its main job currently, at least the distancing issue has been remedied in the meantime.
So if you’re looking for a fix for the Spotter Scope’s targeting ability, you’re unfortunately going to have to wait until Infinity Ward enables it yet again. And to add insult to injury, it won’t seem to be getting enabled until the game’s next update. Whenever that is.
